Xenon retrofit on an E90 330d touring
Spoke to Parts at Cooper Reading this week who informed me that it wasn't possible to retrofit Xenons to a E90 330d Touring.
My car has auto switching lights. Is this true? Anyone else tried this? |

It's possible alright - and it's been done here, but it's a whole shedload of work.
Try a UK Forum search.....you'll find loads of info. E90 M Sports should have come with Xenon as standard equipment IMO.

per BMW UK
I was advised by BMW UK about a year ago that even though the retro fit is available they advised against fitting it to my 2006 330i E91.

Of course it can be done however there is a good reason why a lot of places will not.
It is not legal to retro fit them onto a vehicle that did not have them factory fitted. Something to do with the type approval. In theory, doing so should result in an MOT failure. But if you choose to go ahead anyway, remember that you MUST have self levelling and HEATED washer jets as non heated washer jets are going to cause you big problems if you use the car in sub zero conditions. |

Blimey what a mission! I shall stick to my standard "oil lamp" lights for now.
You can get 1500 lumen (brighter than any headlight) bike lights for £500 - maybe I should Blu Tac one to my bonnet? |

MOT failure? Not yet but VOSA are actively going down this route, which I welcome.

Technically if you took it to an MOT and it failed it would probably be because the beam was set to a wrong angle. Its easier to swap your car for a car with xenons. I had a LCI E90 last week and the lights on that were much better than pre LCI like I have (Mr. Kiplings foil tarts). Next car must have xenons.
