Strange behaviour of headlight washers
Hello All,
Apologies in advance for a bit wordy post/query.... Yesterday when I started my drive back home from work, I used the wind screen wash which also cleaned the headlights. Since it was a evening time lots on insects were crashing on my windscreen hence I used the windscreen wash couple of times and everytime it spreyed it on the headlight as well. This is of course as expected. However after an two hours when I stopped for a break and used the the windscreen wash again, it did sprey on the windscreen but nothing on the headlights, and it has not at all spreyed on headlight after that. Should I be worried or it is because of the water in windscreen washer is low? But then I should be getting a warning, isn't it? Has anyone experianced this before? |

it only should wash the headlamps after every five washes of the windscreen. After it drops below a certain level headlamp wash is disabled. This may be at a point before the warning comes on. Why don't you fill the washer bottle and try again?

My old 330i in 2006 used to spray the lights on every single windscreen wash, emptying the bottle in about 3 days.
Then after a software upgrade it went to washing the lights less often, I don't know if its every 5 times or if there's are time / speed limit in there too. Some times you wash the windscreen first thing and the lights wash, then an hour or so you wash screen again and the lights wash too. Others times it seems to take for ever for the lights to wash again.... It does stop washing the lights when the level gets low to save water. |

Can be annoying when the windscreen is just a bit mucky but the car is otherwise clean
-the jets are so powerful that they cover half the car in washer fluid! For those with black/very dark cars familiar with not only trying to keep the car clean but also dry (to avoid watermarks) it's a right pain! They do blast stuff off the headlights well - in fact I want to adapt one and make it into a water cannon for blasting angry reps... |

Nope - from now on I will be waving and grinning at M Sport owners. I may even offer them flowers.
