Welcome lights not working

I've always had it off but today I turned on Welcome lights in iDrive and it doesn't work. Battery is new. Any ideas?

What part of the welcome lights? No running lights? No interior lights? Both? Was car locked before?

Did you have the light switch in auto or headlights on, those are the only places the welcome lights work.

None of the welcome lights work (headlights, interior, door, etc). When I unlock the car, only the hazards blink once.

My headlights are on auto.

Headlights are not a part of welcome lights but parking lights are but you interior should be coming on. Are you using two remotes? Maybe unlocking with one that doesn't have welcome lights enabled? Just eliminating human error...

I've only been using one remote. How do you enable welcome lights with the remote?

Its programmed in the car setting menu to enabled and activated on remote unlock press (wrong terminology above).. But I have used two remotes and enabled one but not the other. The one that wasn't enabled wouldn't trigger welcome lights when unlocked.

Seems like you are doing the proper procedure, most of what I seen was battery related but since you have a new one I am not sure...

I just checked again and they came on, except the door light didn't come on when I opened the door. I closed it and locked it. Unlocked it and no welcome lights. This is frustrating! Maybe i need to drive the car a bit since I made the change today?

I figured it out. If you disable the interior dome light (by the rear view mirror) then the puddle lights won't come on. But the dash/door panel lights still work. So I turned on the dome light and now everything works. I wonder if there is a way to disable the dome light and still have the puddle lights work. Coding? hmmm...

^Enable in idrive and make sure to physically press the dome light button on and the others should work. I couldnt figure out how to have all of them work without the dome light so I removed the bulb

"... so I removed the bulb." If that isn't a redneck repair I don't know what is.
