to run flat or not...

I currently have a set of standard Contisport SSR on standard rims.

Considering the non-runflat route, mainly for the ride-improvement. What do people think?

Do it yesterday!
You will have a completely different car to drive with proper tyres fitted and never look back!
You do not say what size your "standard rims" are. My car was fitted with 19" from the factory so to me they are standard and with 30 profile run-flats fitted they were well known for cracking the rims. Seems less of an issue now since people ditched the run-flats unless of course you drive down the sink-holes that litter the roads in this country because we had more than 6 hours of snow last winter!

+1

I ditched my RFTs and am so glad I did. Ride quality much better. I haven't found a spare kit or full size spare for a price I was happy with so just carrying a can of fix-a-flat for emergencies.

I changed mine due to the bad road surface at my location, I picked up a spare wheel from E Bay and fitted one of the RFT.

Thanks all. I've got rid of the RFTs on the back and am looking forward to the fronts wearing out

Ditch the RF, planning on doing it as well.

I was going to ditch the RFT's, but when I bought the car, the fronts were almost new. When it came time to change the rears, I just put new RFT's on. The ride is absolutely fine IMO. Sure, non-RFT's are more compliant, but with the newer RFT's, it's not the night and day difference it was a decade ago. Yes, I'd still prefer non-RFT's all round, but genuinely don't think that new RFT's are bad at all.
