need some help on a vibration issue...
Hey guys was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I've done searches which lead me to believe it may have something to do with the control arm bushings, but I don't have those exact same symptoms.
I have stock 18" 287s with OEM sized continental DWS. properly balanced on all four corners and rims are not bent. OEM sport suspension. The car has a vibration that I feel in my seat and footwell starts around 60 mph which progressively gets worse as I let off throttle. When I am accelerating briskly I do not have any issues. I can visually see the steering wheel shimmy when I am not holding it at speed. Can't say I necessarily feel it in the steering wheel though. My steering wheel definitely feels looser turning left than right. I also have a periodic clunk when turning the steering wheel but it isn't something I can replicate all the time. Does the lower control arm bushing sound like the culprit in this situation? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Sounds similar to what I had on my last e92. The tension strut bushings were worn. When I upgraded to m3 tension struts, problem disappeared. Its pretty common on early model 335i's

You're talking about the only replaceable rubber bushing on the lower control arm, right? I got an 09 model, but I don't think there were any suspension revisions year over year.

At first, I thought it was improperly balanced wheels. Had them rebalanced, didn't do anything. Not sure about your clunk sound though. |

Only diff is that mine vibrates all the time...throttle does not matter, loads do not matter. Wheels are tried and all balanced. Any other ideas? Thank! |
