Eccentric shaft motor and shaft assembly replacement questions
the dealership said the solution to my problem is to replace eccentric shaft motor and shaft assembly with new bearings. Anyone know if there is a trusted place to get oem parts besides the dealership or is the dealership the best way to go?
Also, any idea on a labor quote? Thanks in advance.

At a dealership 1500 to 2000 easy.(maybe more)
Why so much stuff has to come off and go back on. the sensor is not cheap either . There is no motor. |

I think OP is referring to the Valvetronic motor.

If its just that it's not such a big job.
I haven't heard of a lot of them going bad though. I would question that analysis? What are the symptoms? error codes? If its the stuff the motor attaches to could be big bucks. |

https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1582344 At that time, you had 9 different faults saved in DME memory, and it appeared that ALL of them related to a power supply issue. In addition to VVT power supply issues, those faults related to Injector power supply/relay, and Ignition power supply/relay (same relay, K6341 per attached TIS circuit diagram), and also DME "Undervoltage." You need to determine if you had "undervoltage" in other modules than the DME (all 9 codes posted related to DME), and if there is anything that suggests the VVT motor is faulty, rather than the circuit that provides power to actuate that motor. TIS circuit diagram for Power Supply to DME, including relays for Ignition & Injection, and VVT Relay: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...upply/CkOkr85a TIS circuit diagram for "Valve Gear" including VVT Servomotor, M6351: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...-gear/CkMrBXP5 QUESTIONS: 1) WHAT diagnostics did they do that suggest a problem with the "eccentric shaft motor & shaft assembly w/new bearings"? 2) Do you have any invoice or printout that shows Fault Codes, Freeze Frame Data, tests done (such as VVT Activation), etc.? 3) If so, can you scan anything the dealer gave you, save it as a jpg file and attach it to a post here? It's hard to diagnose a vehicle over the internet, but it you can provide INPA or ISTA screens, or whatever you provided earlier, along with FF Data (mileage & engine conditions when codes saved) we can at least offer an educated opinion on whether the dealer's diagnosis is valid, whether you correctly understand it, what further tests can be done, etc. George |
