I have a couple questions (maybe noob questions) based off of what some people wrote here.

(1) is there a kw v1 version for xdrive or do all kw v1s fit both xdrive and non?

(2) does removing the bump stops allow the car to drop more?

(3) if so, what are the hazards of removing the bump stops. I don't want to drop my xdrive that much. Height aside, Is it better for handling and ride comfort to keep the bump stops in or take them out?

Thanks.

1) There is a special XI version, model 10220048 is the one you need.

2) Removing bumpstops is what some ppl say is needed, however...

3) if you are not looking to drop "that much" my rear tires are tucked and my fronts have minimal gap for my daily driver. I still have room to go lower but I dont think you can go lower without rubbing or fender rolling and I did not remove my bumpstops. I would have to imagine it woul definitely hurt ride quality to remove the bump stops.

Additional note: for the most part, I do not even feel that I have an aftermarket suspension. The KW are great for daily driving! They are stiffer but not rough at all.

Very helpful info. Thanks.
I don't want anything tucked. Maybe a finger to two fingers of wheel gap all around.

When they say 1.8 1.6 drop is that before the sag sets in? To get the most drop from sag after install should I slam mine all the way down? I'm trying to get as low as possible with v1s

my V1s did not sag at all. the shop guy said the coil kit itself is made together so you should not see any adjusting or settling among the different suspension parts. what you see is what you get, as far as mine was concerned.

here is mine
kept it conservative because the roads in montreal quebec are really bad
on kw v1's right now
found that the front sway bar link stops it from going lower so i am currently waiting for some smaller adjustable sway bar links from ground control and hopefully it wont rub

this is the first report that I hear the link blocks the collar from going lower?
others have reported they have their front collars to the bottom.
so something must be wrong with your intall.

I got v1 installed myself I have about 7 threads left in front
with a finger gap. so I'm sure if I cranked it more I could close that up.

however I read this post front to back
what I find very confusing is that if this is supposed to be an xi thread
then why are some lower then others on v1, and still have threads left?
assuming they didn't touch bumpstops.
there is a white e90xi on another page that's looks fully tucked and says still threads left?
can this be an install issue? meaning if not installed properly could increase decrease the range?

KW V1s on 19 inch AG 313s. About 3/4s of the way down in the front and halfway in the back.

why I'm I seeing pics where the collar on the v1 can't get past the endlink?
I see two pics in this thread. where the collar is right at the end link and doesn't not look like it will get past it, leaving about 5 unused threads?

but yet there are others reporting they have their v1 to the bottom. so how did they get the collar cranked down past the endlink??

You just crank it down and it will pass the endlink. Just keep cranking, thats what i did

I know this was posted a while ago. But heres mine maxed out in the front.

My fronts are maxed out. Is this about the right height in the front? it looks like its tucking by a little bit but i can still full lock.

My left side has less clearance compared to my right with the end links. If I remember correctly my right side still hits my end link but not as much as my left. Also my left side is a little less than a 1/4 inch higher than my right side. My rears have about 3 threads I believe.

This may be completely old news and common knowledge, BUT one thing I noticed was the car doesn't sit as low as some others with KW V1s and it sounds like other people have experienced the same thing, however, the xDrive version won't drop as much as non-xDrive. If certain people are saying they are two threads from the bottom and are sitting lower than you, might be worth double checking whether they are running xDrive or not.

non-xDrive:
Front Lowering: 1.2" to 2.3"
Rear Lowering: 0.9" to 2.1"

xDrive:
Front Lowering: 0.6" to 1.8"
Rear Lowering: 0.6" to 1.8"

is this maxed out though?

Yes, i'm quite certain that is bottomed out. The fronts are always pretty high on the Xi's, unfortunately. H&Rs go lower (1.25-2.5" front and 0.75-2" Rear)

Definitely not maxed out....

However the issue with KWs is that the strut bodies allow you to lower the car OUTSIDE OF THE ACCEPTABLE VALVING RANGE.

WHY KW ALLOWS THIS AND GIVES NO WARNING THAT IT WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY IS RIDICULOUS.

KWs can be set MUCH lower than what is pictured. However, you will be outside of the acceptable valving range and prematurely blow the struts. KW will know this and when you send it in for warranty repair, they will deny your claim.

If I were to ever go the air route, your trunk setup is exactly what I would do. Props for being clean

I am on KW and completely bottomed out up front. Zero threads remaining. Now i am learning this is going to cause premature failure with seals.... anyone have experience with this specifically? Anyone been bottomed out for a while and not blow a seal? Lastly how far from bottomed out is "acceptable" to kw?
