N55 down pipe removal

This thing is a pain in the ass... I cannot seem to be able to reach the 02 sensors let alone the mounts holding it up... Is there a easier way to do this?

So go from the top of the engine bay ... That will include disconnecting the stock intake pipe correct? I am going to take that.

Yes i do.

no no.
u go from the bottom for sure.
there is no easier way, unless u have a lift.
if u're laying down u got go all the way up on that
bitch to get to the clamp. just reach up and muscle it

i thought u were having problems with the O2 sensor
have u removed the clamp yet?

edit--
also look at black e thread for downpipes.
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...t=n55+downpipe

remove the bracket nut, then remove the dual exhaust bolts.
then go for the clamp.
once u get the clamp off, something it comes off easy - but
u got to muscle it to open.
then pull off the DP - you'll notice the mid bracket will hold it up til u
slide it off.
at that point remove the O2 sensors.
remember those steps.

u need to remove the clamp.
it wont come off til u do that.
the clamp, use flat head, something to lift the clamp
from where it's bolted on.
that clamp is wrap'd around the edges of that DP.

get that and it'll be off.
when u put on the new DP make sure it's
a tight fit and the clamp is on properly.

just have the clamp hanging half ways off the
fitting when u slide in the new DP. the dp should lock on.
and then close the clamp and bolt on. it'll help if u have
2nd pair of hands to hold the other end. well maybe not.

is the clamp off?

ur almost there. just sucks with jack stands in this case

if the O2 sensor is lose and u need to twist it off.
follow that line up and unhook off the holder -
should give u some slack to twist off the senor.
edit - twist the wire with the sensor too.

open end wrench (forgot size 14 / 17?) for the sensors.

You'll be able to hand turn them off once u break them loose with the wrench.
It'll get easier.

Oh man, I'm going to be attempting this on Sat. Any pointers you can give me before I get started? All the other threads are for N54 DP, and I just assumed N55 was going to be a little easier due to the "extra" space.

it's like the N54 - minus
1 clamp.
i recommend a lift.

keikdasneak
try to take off the upper sensor first
so the mid one u can twist the DP will make
it easier.

and just wait till u have to get it back on.
