that's nice Scheer, but I think my car will be too loud for my taste if I do that mod with my intake
this is with the intake and the valve tee mod

I have an AFE intake with the resonator and muffler delete. I think its a good volume...nothing too outrageous or obnoxious

muffler and a resonator delete is a bit too aggressive in my opinion...just a muffler delete would suffice for a bmw (judging from the sound clips)....but..once you get your desired "loudness"...mandrel bent pipes are going to give a smoother consistent sound vs. standard crimp bent....but mandrel pipe bending is more money and most likely a special order....(if you are a perfectionist)....you want the airflow to be smooth as possible without any change in diameter throughout for a sound clean as possible....now...the final..the tip...many think tips are just for looks....but tips become key is the final sound the exhaust is going to make...."drone" is caused by bass...larger the tip...more "drone"...smaller will result in less to no "drone"...think about a tuba vs. a tumpet....straight cut vs. rolled....3 inch tip vs. 2 inch tip...it makes a BIG difference in the final sound...resonated tip vs. standard tip....anyways...i've played around countless hours trying out different tips when building exhausts (8 years ago in college days)....you may think paying $500 or $1,000 is steep for a manufactured exhaust...but those people spent countless hours testing out different bends...variety of mufflers and tips to get a marketable "sound" (exhaust system) on the shelves of shops...if you want to do it yourself...do it if you have the time....there are 100's of muffler out there to try....1,000's of tips...infinite number of ways to bend and shape pipes...mix and match to get the sound you want....

never heard of a check engine light for exhaust modification...usually that will only occur if you are choking the flow..(too many crimp bends or restrictions)....or if you mess around too much before the sensor (but ususally sensors are located before the catalytic converter)...so even a high flow racing catalytic converter won't send errors if the sensor is still reading the correct emissions that go into the catalytic correctly...even headers (modifications before the cat) won't typically send any errors unless there is a leak (using the older paper thin metal piece that goes between when bolting on the new parts)...
