Who fast forwards songs these days? Does it come with a cassette deck too? Dealbreaker... ;-)

Fast Forward is actually very important to me as I listen to mix files that are several hours long sometimes. Not only FF, but specifically the scroll bar option is very important.

exactly....I was thinking audio books etc.... Better to put the file on an SD or USB in this case, OR just play the file from an ipod connected via the aux in or bluetooth so you can control it directly via the ipod.

OK so here is the camera kit i bought. Any ideas on where to attach the wires off the power filter? I'm thinking:

Yellow to the battery
Green to the reverse light
black to a ground

Should i crimp the yellow onto the yellow constant wire coming off the battery for the head unit where i crimp the inline fuse in??

Right click the image (in Chrome?), and I can ask it to search Google for the image.

First hit I got was from here...

Jeff, had a couple questions hoping you can clear up. I was trying to find a picture of the rear side of the unit so I could see the connections, but can't find a decent pic of it.

Is the USB lead hardwired to the radio, or is it an empty USB port that you plug the included USB extension cable into? Also, for the AUX in, is that an AUX port that you plug an AUX cord into and run that where you want it, or how does that work? I see the flush-mount AUX port you sell on the site has a 3.5mm to RCA adapter, so is that how the AUX in works?

Also, anyone who has purchased, any experience with the included mic and placement? Suggestions, etc.?

Thanks.

@Metblack328i I got the camera on Ebay from the seller all-lights2009. I tapped the green light into the reverse light power (Black wire with blue stripe ON MY CAR) and the ground got tapped into the ground for the rear lights (Brown wire ON MY CAR). The yellow wire was connected to the yellow wire coming from the head unit, then into an inline 15a fuse, then to the battery. Works great!

I'm all installed now! Took some time to get everything ran; mic, GPS, reverse camera add on. But so far so good! It was a long install time for me as I don't have much experience installing radios, but its pretty straight forward. Just take your time and relax, try not to get to worked up if something is being a pain, i was about to rip my overhead console out of the damn car lol, but took a breather and got back at it. I've got my phone synced with all my contacts and it plays music (Pandora & files). I didn't run the USB as i haven't decided if I'm gonna go with an Ipod yet and i didn't see how to run an AUX cable but today's main focus was getting it in the car and working, those can both be added later. As for now I'm gonna try and find the link to the update to switch everything into Standard and figure out how to take the climate control display off the screen and call it a night!

So I have a similar setup with the backup cam/trunk latch...got everything wired yesterday with a relay - everything is working - mine did not come with an inline power filter, and I'm seeing some subtle scan/rolling lines on the image - I have the relay wired to the battery - should I put a 12v power filter on that line? Some other posts said to check the ground connection from the camera. Any ideas?

Jeff,
Few more features that I think will be real great addition to this unit.

1. Real time traffic updates (more of a support by iGO)
2. A wireless way of sending the maps from a computer to this head unit. You mentioned this unit has a wifi setting but it is currently not enabled. Hopefully that will be done soon.
3. All the displays using BMW instead of VW golf or other generic cars

I know some of you guys didnt like my advice about the mic location....so I tried something different and found a location that works just as well, keeps the mic out in the open so it works well, and makes it almost about invisible.

First I took off the foam and the bracket clip so that the mic would be as small as possible

I still used the twist tie wrapped around the mic to hold it in place, I loosened the boot where the wiring runs to the mirror and pulled the wire tie through the gap, pushed the boot back into place and the mic was secure. The wire for the mic just comes out of the front of the headliner. From the drivers seat you can barely see it, and even if you do look at it, it doesnt look like anything, it kind of looks like part of the mirror mount.

I did some testing and it sounds just as good in this location as far as I can tell.

The USBs come out of the back and are about 6" long before the plug. You can see them here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...4&postcount=13

There are standard aux in RCAs on one of the detachable harnesses, so the cable you would use to connect to them would be dependent on what device you wanted to use. We sell the 3.5mm headphone style jack as that is the most common and most versatile.....as it allows ANYTHING with a headphone jack to be plugged in and heard through the stereo. See above for my second recommendation on the mic.

So, does anyone know how large of a difference the china cameras are vs the ones I see from bimmertech and bimmerretrofit?

The price discrepancy just seems so ridiculous (at cursory glance) Like, ~$500 vs ~$20

That's why I went with the eBay one. The one from bimmertech looks just like mine but I paid a fraction of the cost.

No, the bimmerpost camera is for cars with iDrive. They are self-coding and hence no external coding of the system is required. Thats why they are so expensive.
The camera that we need for the Dynavin is a straight video out simple camera. So dont do the mistake of buying the bimmerpost ones.

Garage List
Has anyone tried using this and retaining the idrive screen and it's features? I have CCC and it sucks but I do like the look and screen being above dash. I installed a rear view camera using a multimedia unit so I would like retain those features. I know you can do it with this as well. Maybe do a dual screen? I don't know. Just looking for information.

This should do the job for a rear camera right?
