I teach my kids about inclusion and acceptance, and I also teach them boundaries. The boundaries seem to be a bit blurry these days. Perhaps I'm just too damn old, I grew up in the 80's. Yelling at kids to get off my lawn is not far away, but fuck them, it's my lawn.



It's about finding balance. Your right to swing your fist in public ends where my nose begins. This truism applies to many subjects. Where does group A's rights end, and group B's begin? Absent this certainty, there is a logical frustration being manifest.

That's the thing about education. It shouldn't be about teaching kids how to be worse citizens and people. It should be about giving them skills to be valuable members of our society. That means learning stuff that you didn't learn as a kid as things have improved since then...

Let's take your "kids are learning about drag"... Why is it sexual? Are they watching hardcore gay porn to learn about "drag"? Highly doubt it. Are they learning that some people may like dressing up as women? Sure, why is that inherently a problem? Clothes are asexual as they are simply clothes. Some people like to wear suits and some don't. Who cares? We should treat people respectfully regardless of how they dress as long as it isn't obscene.

You'd be better off teaching your kids that core lesson IMHO. Accept people as they are and weigh negative actions over preconceived biases. You can unpack what biases are inherently packed into things like "skirts" and why they are OK for woman in your view, but you don't get all worried about Scotsman and their skirts (sorry kilts). They'll be richer people for it. They'd be able to humanize their fellow citizens and actually find common ground with them and not continue the death spiral we're in. Which is exactly what the education system is trying to do...

This is why people care, the "line" gets crossed too often as it is. I know my daughters friends dad. He didn't teach his daughter to Twerk, but she obviously learned it from somewhere. I'll never know where, but it's a damn shame we have no boundaries or limits anymore.

Drag isn’t inherently sexual so, no finding a random video of a person in drag performing as was done here doesn’t disprove that. You sound as absurd as the teachers at the Christian high school my wife attended which banned all forms of dance as “dancing leads to sex”.

Anything can be sexualized, but few things are inherently sexual.

I hope it passes. I love that mindset. We all should be hitching BMW wagons to horse and mule teams and lighting our homes with beef tallow lamps from those beef we raise and butcher ourselves. Progress is overrated. Comfort and clean air is too. This tablet and PC crap needs to stop too. We all should be stringing thousands of waxed strings and getting some carbon fiber high tech cans. Lots of kids identified as lions after they watched The Lion King. Some grew up to be marine biologists and many grew up with a deeper respect for animals.
