valve cover replacement help

Long time lurker here but first time posting. I have a 2010 328xi that has the dreaded oil leak from the valve cover gasket. I've been putting off the repair for a little bit since it's a slow leak, but recently I started getting an occasional misfire from cylinder #3. Bought a new set of plugs and coils and went to swap them out and found the problem cylinder was soaked with oil--so it's time to stop putting that off. I keep going back and forth on doing the repair myself but I'm a bit worried that I'll find out too late that it is over my head. I also don't really have the garage space, I'm not really supposed to work on my car where I park--I do small jobs but replacing the valve cover might be pushing it a bit lol.

I was wondering if any kind folks here would be willing to lend a helping hand to a fellow enthusiast? I'd be happy to reciprocate by helping out with a project of your own and/or with beer/cash/however else I could express my thanks. I'm based in western MA (Amherst/Northampton area) but I'm also around central MA and CT semi-regularly.

Hello, check to see if your car is a SULEV vehicle.

The valve cover gasket is covered for SULEV vehicles for 15 years/150,000 miles.

I had the valve cover gasket replaced along with the eccentric camshaft sensor last year under the SULEV warranty.

VCs are very doable on the side of the road or in a parking spot. Like a 3 hours job on an N54 your 1st time. A 1.5 hr job the next time. I know you have an n54 but it can't be that different...

If I was not so busy with literally everything in my life I would say swing by and I will help. I mean I guess you could do it in my driveway if you just need space. I have every tool you could ever need and I can lend a hand for a short time.
