Apple Car play for a 2016 328i

Hi Guys - I just picked up a CPO 2016 328 this weekend, and want to get apple carplay. Is there way to retrofit? How expensive is it?, and is it worth it?

You’re posting in the E90 forum. You want the F30 forum, which is the generation your car belongs to. The folks in there will know better.

Having had CarPlay on my 2017, however, my opinion is that it isn’t worth it. I’m skeptical you’d even be able to retrofit it on a 2016 considering it wasn’t offered as option until the introduction of iDrive 5.0 (which happened in 2017 on the F30 platform).

I’m almost positive that every 2016 F30 would have had iDrive 4, and therefore retrofitting CarPlay would almost certainly be impossible. I could be wrong, but I’m 99% sure.

Given all the hype around it, I was disappointed in CarPlay. It doesn’t even fill the whole screen, and in general the integration leaves a lot to be desired. I wanted to like it, but I promptly switched it off and just used the integrated system instead.

+1...I have car play on my GTI and I never use it. The VW bluetooth is great for music and calling and i don't like the car play nav. That leaves the voice texting which I just don't use personally...

Return it and and get a 2017.
