Moving Stock Radio?

I am looking for a bit of help to figure out if it is possible to relocate the stock radio but retain its functions such as the AUX in.

I have searched and found that you can do it to retain your chimes if you do an aftermarket radio. I am looking to install an LCD\Tablet but use the aux in for sound with the OEM radio.

if anyone in the NYC/ CT area can help me with this I would be more than happy to pay. Thank you for any help

Search this forum. There's a thread about moving the factory HU to the trunk to retain all it's functions and install an aftermarket HU, like you mentioned.

That will allow you to use the AUX input.

thanks

I have been searchin, I dont plan on using an aftermarket radio so dont know if those instructions will work. For example if I move the radio to trunk will the aux work as normal that would free up the space in the dash to do the LCD.

Pons1012,

I just got back from the dealer having my alarm turned on. I have an aftermarket head unit installed, with the original deck in the trunk. I did not do the work, but I will tell you this, if you can find someone (Stereo shop did mine) to move your deck to the back, you should be able to leave the space where the deck was empty. From what I understand, all that really happens is that basically all the wires are re-routed to the trunk. This should not be hard in your case, intercepting the existing wires and most importantly the MOST cable is the big pain, or should I say re-routing it to the trunk. as far as your Aux in, just have them run you an extended cable to the front from the trunk.
Not sure if this helps, but at least I can tell you that it will work, just finding someone to do it is the hard part.
Good luck
