Question 2011 335xi Cooling Fan Replacement

I've been having trouble with a p1030 (valvetronic failure) popping up constantly. I replaced the valvetronic (aftermarket), but it's still popping up. It seems to happen at high engine temps (250-ish). The Indy mechanic who replaced the valvetronic said it didn't need an eccentric shaft, and when I took it to the dealer, they won't take a look at it without replacing everything (valve+eccentric) for 4k. So my dad who's a mechanic is taking a look at it. It made a ticking noise 10 minutes after the car was shut off, and we were thinking it's a water pump or cooling fan. While testing out the cooling fan, it blew. The dealership said it costs $800 for a new one. Are there any good aftermarket cooling fan parts that someone knows to be as good as the OEM? One that's just as big?

Just go to a salvage yard

How do you "test" the cooling fan?

Would that be better than any aftermarket? I found this one online:

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...Lw_wcB#fitment

But I'm not sure if anyone has had experience with it.

And I'm not exactly sure because I wasn't there, but it sounds like my dad hooked the fan to an external battery to test it.

Behr is an OE supplier of A/C and cooling components, owned by Mahle. That fan should be fine - the original one in your car probably came from them. Yard would be cheaper.

Thank you a ton! I'll probably get the Behr, just because I wouldn't be sure of the lifetime of one from the yard.
