4X4 Error and leaking fluid. What options do I have?

I have a 2008 e92 335xi. Today, while driving I got the 4x4 and DSC error (AWD System Malfunction). I tried to pull up some codes but nothing came up. Tried turning wheel left to right nothing happened.

So, I disconnected the battery for about 15 min. Turned wheel left and right, and the 4x4 light went away. However, I noticed that there was a lot of fluid under the car. Im assuming the transfer case had a bad leak or something, or something broke.

To make it worse, I need to drive 300km to a different city tomorrow. So, I have a few questions regarding my options.

1. If I drive it as is, and the 4x4 light comes back on, does it just send power to the rear wheels and the transfer case won't suffer from any damage?

2. If I pull the 2 fuses that make the car RWD, does that prevent transfer case from having any damage done? In other words, when AWD is disabled (and is it fully disabled?), are any of the parts of the drivetrain still prone to damage?

UPDATE: Used XDelete app and made it RWD, hopefully this avoids the problem altogether.

Useless. You need a BMW-capable scanner. Carly, MHD, ISTA, Launch CRP123, Foxwell NT510.

Parts inside the transfer case are spinning when you are moving regardless of mode of operation (AWD or RWD). If you lost a lot of fluid from the transfer case, you risk gear and/or bearing damage if you drive it without sufficient fluid. I would not drive it as-is with a major fluid leak and loss of fluid from the transfer case.

Hmmm, I see. I guess I'll take into the shop. Thanks!
