255/40/18 on E90 LCI

Is this possible? I've got stock 18" rims running 255/35 and am wondering if I can increase profile. Overall diameter increase is 1", so would only decrease fender clearance by 1/2". It looks like I have the room, but wanted to check first.

Depends on what else you're running (M3 arms, spacers, etc.). Biggest problem will be in the front; bottom spring perch distance from top of tire will be your biggest issue. If you use spacers to push it out to avoid interference, then you likely run into fender clearance issues...then fender liner issues, etc.

At the end of the day I'm sure you'll be told it can't be done...you could always buy/mount just one 255/40 and test fit on all four corners though. If it doesn't work, at least you won't be in the hole too bad.

Was just meaning for the rear. Would be very impressive for the front. Looks like I have plenty of room to go up a profile in the front 225/40 to 225/45 to match.

YES 255 40 18 in the back no probs. I have 225 45 18 in the front.....but it rubs the fender liner ever so slightly...... it doesn't anymore after a few months of tyre wear. A safer option would be 235 40 18 if u don't want it to rub.

Where/when does it rub? Only full lock or in revers?

Very surprised that it runs. Is your car lowered?

Not that surprising really. The rear has much more space (especially when talking about height) in comparison to the front.

Pretty sure he is commenting on the 225/45/18 in the front. I just test fit 245/40/18 in the front on stock suspension and it rubbed on full lock (probably would have been fine). Extra .3" in diameter would rub a decent amount unless non-port xdrive suspension.

Yeah I was talking about the front too. I have saw a few threads where people have fitted 225/45/18 on the front without any issues.

So I am surprised that you have rubbing?

Ahh, I see now.

Yeah, 245/40/18 rubs at full lock for me as well. Any taller and I could certainly see more rubbing issues.

OK. So 225/45/18 should be fine on the fronts?

What size are you trying to run in the rear?

Too tall for the front if on sport suspension or lowered, if 4×4 status you should be fine (rubbing on full lock)

No surprise there...those are all very easy fitting sizes.

I dont mean to hijack the thread but what kind of trimming or rolling would I have to do to add 10 or 15mm spacers in the rear? Its a pre-lci e90. I made a thread but Ive had no useful answers.
