I reported an incident with my pcv heater under the manifold to NTHS. Glad to see the recall expanded this heater was getting me nervous.

The CCV system feeds into the PCV. The hose between the CCV oil separator and the PCV is the strongest one of the system so it should be fine.
PCV valve and CCV valve is same thing here and there is only one. Positive Crankcase Ventilation = Crank Case Ventilation. The valve is that round big thing inside the manifold folds at the back. The piece that is being replaced by this recall is not a valve, it is just a 90 degree connector tube that has electrical heater built into it.

In this recall they kept the same language from the earlier recall made on the 07 and higher models for the same part, which is causing confusion.

As you wrote, as long as they don't break the hose at the end of this piece during replacement, they don't need to pull the intake manifold out, and so don't need to replace any of the other components of the PCV/CCV system.

This part is accessible only by removing the alternator, without removing the intake manifold, same as newer N52's than 07.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I need to buy a new oil separator after all.

Greetings folks, I got both recalls done by stealership on my '10 328xi. But now I have the Service Engine Soon light and it feels like the engine is misfiring. Anyone else encounter this after they worked on the PCV recall? I have a feeling they screwed something up. Going to call them soon and hopefully they're able to fix what seems to be their mess. Ugh!

I would scan for codes before I take the car to the dealer...just to make sure you know what's wrong before you give it to them.

I just got this recall letter too.
I have not done the blower motor recall yet.
My 2006 325i has 247K miles on it and it's running just fine.
Why should I do these recalls if I don't have a problem?

I just got the recall notice. To be honest, I've never heard of a PCV system heater.... is this just typical BMW over-engineered stuff?

I also just had the manifold off to change out my DISA valves. Kinda don't want another person poking around in there and potentially breaking stuff...Would it be possible to just unplug the electrical connector to the heater without causing any problems? It never gets below freezing here in San Diego anyways.

If the heater has not melted the manifold, the procedure is to remove the alternator, and substitute the plug. The intake does not need to be removed, and as far as I understand, the rest of the PCV is not replaced.

Just had mine replaced today along with the Blower Motor Wiring recall, rather painless.
New Valve Heater and misc. bolts. In and out in less than two hours along with an oil change, brake flush and replaced the belt/tensioner.

Hi guys

can anyone clarify the following , ive recently replaced the FWM on my e90 320 D, only to have it fail again within around 40 days , and then i find out that there is a recall on the battery cable , so the guys that supplied the FWM are saying that the FWM has been damaged due to a power surge from the power cable that is being replaced by bmw under the recall, and that i basically have to fork out more hard earned cash to replace it again.
my question is could it have been damaged due to the cable problem which bmw is replacing under the recall, and if yes then shouldnt bmw be replacing the fwm as well as part of the recall? any answers would be appreciated .
