did you measure hub distances to check equal heights on both sides? get a second alignment at another shop to confirm the settings if the camber looks off.

i wish there was an easy way to measure camber without paying for another alignment.

at ~$120 a pop, i don't want to just start throwing money toward labor with no results :\

especially since if something needs replacing, i'm going to need ANOTHER alignment

i too am having this issue... its the passenger side that is tucked in. had the alignment done after placing the new wheels. and i can definitely tell by just looking that passenger side is tucked in a bit.

so the bolts solve this issue? so let me get this right... one has to be on top of another?

well i PM'd matt@camber-toe about it and he said that's normal. so it's back to the drawing board.

as other people have suggested, it could be body work, but we (the shop that did my oil change and suggested the eccentric bolt) scrutinized my quarter panels pretty well. and if there was bondo around any of the lips, that would have cracked right off when we rolled the fender. everything aligns perfect. it is something with my suspension

I noticed the same thing, I assume they manufacture like this so the car will turn tighter in one direction for 'U' turns etc... (ie if righthand drive will turn tighter to the right which most 180 degree turns are performed). I countered this with spacing and ride height adjustment.

i haven't seen many e92s in my area with any kind of moderate to extreme fitment, so i wouldn't be able to tell.

if this was normal, i'd assume we'd see a lot more posts about it on the forums though.

check your local forum group and head to a meet. there should be a decent amount of modified e92's lowered.

if it's built into the vehicle on purpose, it should be present when the car is sitting stock.

it may be a bit harder to measure camber, but you can still easily measure your ride height on each rear...

Sorry to bring up this old thread but I have an 07 e90 335i and I stumbled upon this issue as well although I’m on a stock sport suspension, did you ever figure out what the cause of this was
My rear drivers side tire sticks out further then the passenger side rear

Check to make sure your preload and ride heights are set the same on your shocks. I just did a coil over conversion on a 96 328i and I had to count the threads to make it sit level. Even after that it needed adjusting. I'm guessing it's not actually sticking out rather your ride height is incorrect.

Also my e92 sit perfectly straight. I have a Bilstien PSS10 Kit on it. It also took some adjusting.

It’s a stacking of tolerances which causes this. If it really bothers you then you can loosen the 4 rear subframe bolts and try shifting the subframe a little to the side. You might need an alignment after though.

My rear tires were about 1/4” different so I shifted my subframe a bit and got it to under 1/8”. Yeah I’m anal like that, it bugged me lol

These were my before measurements:



This was how I shifted the subframe. Loosened the 4 subframe bolts about 1/2”, supported the subframe with a jack while the car was on jackstands. Cinch ratchet straps tight to pull the subframe the direction I wanted. Then jack subframe back up tighten bolts while straps held it in the new position.

Good post, Big. I was going to say how this is normal and common...there's always going to be some "slop", for lack of a better word, when the cars are built and parts get replaced and tweaked over their lifetime.

But it is very interesting that most seem to report the same as far as the left side sticks out a little more than the right. Mine does the same.

where exactly did you connect the straps ? wdym cinch the straps tight to pull it? where am i cinching it to thats not attached to the subframe haha. i have my car up right now to do this but im very confused. it looks like you have it hooked above the exhaust but whats there ?

if i had another person i could have them pull it over while i tighten but that doesnt seem to be what you did lol
