I used BMW Coding Pack which included v49 of SP-daten for E8X, which I think covers E90. But I did download the v53 daten for this flash from the first post.

I suspect I need to review my software setup.
Can you code with NCS and run INPA? If so, your EDIBAS should be set up correctly. If you can't get either NCS or INPA to work, then there is something off with your software/driver set up.

It appears I can't even connect to the car with INPA. Which leads me to believe that either my setup is wrong, or my car is too old to be using a K+DCAN cable, and instead I need to get an ODBII to Serial cable to be able to connect it to INPA.

I'm going to follow this link and see what happens: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=645844

I've just bought a 335i Auto, its build date is 10/2006 - is it at all possible to check if this transmission flash is possible?

If I try to flash the TCU will it brick the ECU or will it just not work?

Thanks

Will not work, you don't have to try, it won't work for sure.

Worked like charm. Followed instructions to a T and everything went smooth.

Less than 5 minutes from start to finish.

Thanks for the tutorial.

Well I tried again tonight I got a little further than before. When I press "Program" it shows 0%, pauses for about 5 seconds, and then this error pops up. Nothing pops up telling me I can code the ECU 63 more times.

Here is what WinkFP looks like right before I press Program.

I can successfully connect to the car with INPA and read codes. Haven't tried to do anything else with INPA, and haven't tried NCSexpect yet.

My car is 04/2007 E90 335i. I'm using a K+DCAN cable from Amazon, $30. Haven't tried another cable but if it works with INPA shouldn't it work with WinKFP?

UPDATE: I updated to SP-daten 53.3 and it fixed the issue.

Do I need to have the other sp-daten v53.0 files in order to use the Alpina v53.0 files?

Or can I use v53.3 with the Alpina v53.0 files?

Not sure if it makes a difference, but I have v49 Daten files, but uploaded v53 into winkfp for the flash.

So, in other words, I believe you can have any version of Daten for your other tools.

That's what I tried and I got the error above. But my dealer said they updated the car when it was in for service a few weeks ago, so maybe they put the latest software on it and I need the latest daten files.

ABS module went bad

looks like your more active on this forum and maybe someone else will benefit from my post, so im going to repost here below:

have you ever seen anyone have a problem with the abs module going funky because of the alpina b3 tcu flash? I have my car at the getting serviced for a bunch of stuff that need to be fixed that they didnt fix properly in the first place. but that's another story. About a couple of weeks after doing the TCU flash I got an ABS fault code, even came up on the navi screen say something about it. could this have been because of the flash? they are going to replace the abs module, is this going to mess anything up? from what I have read they should be totally diff modules right? I didnt flash back when I brought it in, they didnt mention anything about it after they diagnosed my car. I dont think they would care as my SA basically told me to get a JB4. any incite you could provide would be helpful.

When importing the assembly line data, it says "WDP-Conflict" and says the following WDPs are already present: GK35, GKE191, ... GM1912.

The options are to Replace, Merge, or Cancel. I'm guessing I should select Replace?

all you need is the gk215 folder in your path. if you still having trouble getting it done i can help you get it done remotely so you can have your flash done

Will there be an issue if they are all in there and I select Replace?

There has been no correlation to your failure of the ABS unit. I have not heard of anyone else that had this issue. You do realize these units fail all the time..

Got my cable yesterday in the mail, and spent the entire night getting everything setup so that I could do some coding. After a few hours of downloading/updating, I was able to code a bunch of stuff through NCSexpert. Worked great, and now I can roll up windows with fob, fold mirrors, disabled seatbelt chimes, added digital speedo, enabled cluster lights on full time....ect. Basically I just coded all of the usual stuff.

Here's my question! Last night before I began coding, I tried to get everything working in INPA first, just like everything says to do.
I got both black dots to light up, but whenever trying to read a module (airbag), it would just give errors. Tried a couple different modules too, and got the same error (i300 error).

But coding with NCSexpert works just fine.

So, am I OK to try and do this flash with WinKFP??

^^ I guess no one knows the answer.

So, I gave it a shot today. Worked perfect.

I don't know who decided that checking the airbag module in INPA was the determining factor if your software was setup correctly. I can't read mine either and I know a lot of people can't, but everything else works just fine.

It was a step in one of the guides that I was following.

Said that's the way to tell if it's all working right.

But anyway, everything worked fine for me. I did have to use NCSexpert to fix the paddle shifters, but that literally took less than 1 minute to do.

It did really make me nervous whenver WinKFP was finished flashing for the Alpina tune, and as the "coding completed" box popped up on my laptop screen, the car ABS freaked out.
Said on my CIC screen to "drive slowly to the nearest BMW Service Center". LOL

But after shutting the ignition off, locking the doors and waiting 10 minutes, all was good.

On a side note, I really think that this trans tune is what all of these cars SHOULD have came with. It's a nice difference over stock. Really does shift like a DCT car.

I need to do the flash. Last time I tried I got a communication error. I might have a professional do it remotely.

Well I grew a pair and did it myself, and it finally worked!

I too got the ABS fault afterwards, as well as another fault partway through the flash; it looked like a gear with an exclamation point in it, which I think is a trans fault. They were both gone after turning off the ignition for 10 minutes.

I love this flash, much better than stock. Drive will take some getting used to since it's grandma mode. But the paddles work much better, faster, crisper shifts, same with sport mode as well.
