Takes me a while to get the car all up in the air, as well. First I have to back it onto ramps (rear wheels), while also simultaneously backing the front wheels onto wooden boards. Then jack up the front of the car, one side at a time, and place the front on (2) stands. If I did this weekly I'm sure it would only take 5-10 minutes. But I don't, so it takes at least 15, probably.
Anyway, I think it's worth it if you do a lot of really hard driving and/or launching. I'm a pretty spirited driver, but don't beat the crap out of it. Having the CDV didn't bother me. Removing it made a small difference but the average driver wouldn't notice. Worth it? If you race, are bored, or just like to do every mod you can.

It's about 5-10 minutes for me. Drive the car up on two planks of wood, lift the front, drop it on jack stands. Lift the rear from the differential, drop it on jack stands. The undertray takes a bit to remove, but a small impact drill/drill with socket attachment and a creeper makes quick work of the bolts. You can get it off in a few minutes. Putting everything away takes about 30-60 minutes. 10 minutes to get the car on the ground, 30 minutes to put everything away Last edited by Welcome to NBA Jam; 08-22-2018 at 08:30 PM.. |

Aren't you suppose to purge the clutch line after you do this.
Even if it took and hour it would be worth it. The average drives an automatic and probably couldn't drive a manual. They just don't learn to do this anymore unless they come from a family of car nuts. Thieves will avoid stealing manuals because they can't drive or sell them. |

I had a pre-LCI manual E90 (leased) and was always frustrated that I could never seem to shift as smoothly as I wanted in spite of 45 years of driving and racing stick shifts. I only found out about the existence of the CDV after we turned the car back in, but I'm pretty sure that it had something to do with what I was experiencing. I figure that the CDV made the clutch release point dependent not just on the position of the pedal but also on the rate of release, so I can see how it might make a difference to some drivers but not others depending on driving style. I can't speak to what it's like without it, but I can tell you that if we still had the car, it would have been out of there the moment I found out about it.

It’s definitely worth removing, but unless you have a lift, I’d say it can wait until the next time you put the car in the air for other maintenance. I’d also recommend using the Zeckhausen open valve so you don’t have to bend the hardline.
BTW, do all E9x’s not have the front center jack point? Mine does and it’s the easiest car to get on stands I’ve ever had. My E36 M3 is a huge pain by comparison. |

I couldn't say
My car had it done when I purchased. Yet, I still have a delay when releasing the pedal. If anyone knows any reason this could be happening some help would be INCREDIBLY appreciated. The delay makes for an incredibly disconnected driving experience and I think we can all agree the process of shifting is one of the most fun parts of the drive (assuming it's working correctly and you have a manual)

if you track your car YOU need to do the CDV delete. if not you can leave it alone.
vid 1 had the CDV. tried to launch in the powerband. the whole time i thought i had a dying clutch. instead it was the cdv. 60ft on this pass was a 2.2. 15.1 @95mph. vid2 was with the CDV delete. was able to launch in the powerband. 60 ft 1.9 BIG ASS DIFFERENCE. 14.3@97 mph. If you have a 325i you can do this. full breakdown of time slip https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1514682 |

I had CDV delete done at the same time as a 335is clutch/pressure plate installed. Complete world of difference, the bite is completely different and there's so much more feedback. Would insist it to anyone with an e9x manual car.

I asked a technician today if he could perform a CDV delete for me and he advised against it. Said it would actually make the tranny more notchy not less. He said for city driving the CDV delete is not ideal. Instead he suggested putting in braided hose to help make the shifting smoother. He said to look it up but I've found nothing on it. Anyone have any thoughts on this or made this mod?

Thanks - are you doing mostly city driving or have stretches of road that allow you to get most out of the car? And what about braided hoses? Any experience with those and/or what benefit one might gain from that mod? Might the clutch stop be a good and simple first step?

Ask yourself honestly, do you know how to properly disengage the clutch while giving the car gas? The mod was made for the cafe racers among us who think they can, but can not.

It's been a few years since I've been under there but weren't those lines where the CDV is already hardlines? How would making them into flex lines help anything?
