e90 330i Oil Tempts on Track

What kind of oil temps are people with the e90 330i seeing on track and what oil are you running?

I am debating whether to seriously look into an oil cooler. I plan to track the car 10-15 times/year and run in at a high-intermediate level.

Yesterday I had a 6 hour HPDE at a local drivers development track. Nothing super high speed, just spend the entire day WOT between 2nd and 3rd gear. It was about 90 deg F and sunny all day. I only had the yellow high temp warning come on once right at the end of a session (can't seem to dig up the temp to trigger the yellow warning). Each session was 20 mins max and we alternated between two groups all day, so take that as you will. I had my digital laser temp gauge reading 200 deg F at the oil filter housing after my cool down laps. That was about my 7th HPDE total with my 330i and It was the first time seeing the warning but we also don't get as hot as you guys do in the US. I would say if you're a serious driver driving in tracks in a much hotter area I would invest in one.

Nice to hear. I will be at WSIR in two weeks, so we will see how that goes.

Did you delete the "nanny" safety codes? Like the rear brake temp overheating issue?

No nanny delete, my coder isn't even sure they're there for the N52. Still trying to get him to pull the codes to see if he can unable. If there is power hiding, I sure have a hard time feeling it. Although my best lap time per session usually happens early so maybe there is something being held back. who knows.

Interesting. Most places I am reading that the 330i has nanny codes that hold it back on the track. I guess I will find out soon.

Thanks for the info!
