That man is no fucking father of the year. He had three girls under the care of that monster and all his girls were molested by him and I assume none of his kids told him about it. Then he finds out, and he thinks getting arrested is better than paying attention to his kids.

Fucking epic guys.
Why do you have to bring your logic into the equation? I never thought of that point of view that you mentioned, but I do agree with it. The man could have gone and "talked" to the doctor much sooner, instead of grandstanding in court. Great point.

I won't disagree but offer that parents don't always know when something has happened, most people are trusting of people in positions of authority like doctors, teachers, coaches, scout leaders etc. Unless your kids told you or you saw something amiss you likely wouldn't have known. I wouldn't be too hard on the father, he is likely sickned by this and will never forgive himself.

I know. I tried to tell my mom, my coach, all of my organization and nobody listened. When I told my dad almost two years in I got rid of the "hobby" and my ex boyfriend and my dad bonded over letting me be a kid.

You're supposed to react as a parent for the best interest of the kid. You owe it to the kid to listen to them complaining about their life and you for sure as fuck have to listen to your kid when they tell you that everyone around them keeps sending them near a person who thinks a 13 year old needs a fat erasing massages for their breasts.

We all need to listen to our kids. Mostly it's just random bs. But at times patterns emerge and that's when you pay attention

I can't speak from experience, but I have to imagine that the child would view this as a true act of love on the part of father. And I hope the courts feel the same way about the father. I feel sorry for any kid who's father wouldn't do the same.
I hadn't read this one but I wanted to highlight it by quoting it. I'm pretty sure I killed this thread earlier with my posts.

I agree, there is absolutely no excuse when you've been blatantly told about a crime, as you experienced. I'm sorry you had to go through that.

But its also easy to say we should have all listened and seen the signs for nonverbal actions. But time and time again as humans we don't recognize them until that person is completely broken or gone. Then we look back and say, oh shit, I can't believe I missed it.

I beat up in the end the guy who tried to touch me every time I was sent near him because he was a big financial supporter of our team so my dad might have gotten a bigger than normal clue on my feelings.

I hugged a friend for the first time when I was 25. That was weird and huge, since I had known him since I was 4. When I was 32, I let strangers closer than two steps away from me.

I'm still not sure how to classify what I went through. At the age of 13 I was a child but then again I was working as my team rep. As for my kids, I don't allow my kids to be alone with her at all, I don't trust her judgement and when things happen I know she can be very cruel while trying to handle the aftermath.

But none of that matters. What the father missed at the time doesn't matter anymore but when fucking hell he would rather go to jail than help his daughters with the life after the trial.

Parents fuck up all the time. I do daily too. The kids needs to know we are there for them.

The father showed no respect for the legal system, his daughters or society as a whole.

We have a legal system to keep social order, punish offenders, and to prevent lynch mobs from taking over. If someone did that to my kid, would I want "five minutes alone in a room with him?" You bet.

Would I behave like a thug, knowing that my actions would be on national television, so my kid's classmates would all know she's at least half Neanderthal? No way.

The young women who spoke at the sentencing hearing were more effective because they were so dignified. This ass store his daughter's dignity instead

The legal system isn't necessarily fair all the time either. Had the #metoo movement not happened, he would probably still be assaulting more girls withojt legal ramifications

The court accepted his apology for his behaviour and didnít ridicule him or his daughters memory. YOU made that assumption on your own.

Glad to hear you donít get emotional when your daughters get assaulted

Yeah, after a few trips around the sun, some of us have established a solid enough pattern of behavior that we can say, with a pretty high degree of confidence, that we wouldn't try to attack someone during a nationally televised court proceeding.

You've probably established your own pattern of behavior and your reply gives us a glimpse of it.

The judge was a consummate professional throughout. Of course she "didn't ridicule him or his daughters memory," because she's a grownup and wouldn't lower herself to his level and behave like some idiot in a reality TV show. Her professionalism made him look even worse by contrast. (By the way, the daughter wasn't dead and I think she might be the young woman standing next to him, looking utterly mortified.)

There is a major California law school that tells students that "Very well, your honor," means "F*** you, judge." I once say this exchange between a judge and a lawyer who were both grads, after a somewhat heated hearing on a motion:

"Very well, your honor." "Very well yourself, counsel."

A judge or lawyer who said "F*** you" to each other would probably be sanctioned.

How many trips around the sun was that? And on which planet?

No other parent has ever lashed out? It was premeditated because of the media presence?

You comment on what my pattern of behaviour is, because I challenged your assumption of the unpredictability of a parents reaction?

Your the one who has established a pattern of behaviour by predicting, with certainty, how you would react to a defendant with a crime against your family.

Please, assume something else.
