E90 330i with newer style gear selector + 6HP19TU

I've been a long time silent visitor to this forum, and i think its time to give some info back. I will update the post with photos later on.

Warning! Long posts and picture heavy!

Intro
My car is a Late 2005 E90 330i (VIN: AW50100) which originally
- Came with MSV70 DME
- Came with 6HP19Z Transmission
- Came with CAS 2

Past Retrofits

Interior

- Basic Radio Prof (Non-Nav) to CIC w combox and subsequently to NBT retrofit via BimmerRetrofit Harness
- F10 Harman/Kardon Amplifier along with all E90 L7 speakers
- TRSVC Surround View & PDC from E70 X5 LCI and E84 X1 LCI
- M3 Cluster
- FRM3 Control Unit (For LCI Conversion)
- Full individual M Sports interior with folding rear seats (Including door steps and steering)
- FLA High Beam Assistant
- Piano Black interior trims
- DWA factory alarm system

Exterior

- Full LCI M Sport conversion along with LCI headlamps and taillights.
- M control arms
- Tien coilovers absorbers
- Bayern Ritz 19" Wheels
- F10 LCI Side Mirrors with functioning turn indicators, flip (and side cameras)
- EPS Steering Rack conversion (Flashed to Z4 35is firmware)
- TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring)

Transmission Swap

- Transmission swapped to 6HP19TU/6HP21 (From E6x LCI Chassis)
- Transmission tuned to Stage 3 using xHP via a E60 530i VIN.
- MSV80 DME installed (6HP19TU wouldn't run with MSV70)
- Therefore, Valve cover, hot air mass, throttle body has all been changed to post 2007 N52N design.
- Repinning Air Mass wiring (MSV70 & MSV80 had slight wiring changes)
- CAS3 C4 installed, programmed using Autohex to reuse my own VIN
- ELV and Shift Lock deleted on CAS3
- MSV80 currently running stock E60 530i mapping.
- No power class issue whatsoever between DME and CAS
- 2014 E89 Z4 GWS Electronic Gear Selector installed
- All programmed and wired correctly. Therefore. No faults.

The goal.

- Is a prove of concept that E60 shift-by-wire design Transmission can be installed into a E90 (LCI or Pre LCI)
- Always loved the idea of shift by wire!
- to fix the issue with early ZF Transmission not able to paddle shift in D
- ZF 6HP19TU has better tuning options with xHP as compared with 6HP19
- Potentially gain more power with MSV80? (Unsure)
- More tuning potential on MSV80?

If anyone is interested to know more about this built I'm more than happy to share the details!

Some Photos!

Above photos are taken when I've not gotten my SAT shifter from E60 SAT or Z4 E89 LCI, below is with SAT installed. The ultimate goal is to run the E90 M3 shifter, I've already gotten the trims and M GWS, just need to figure out how to make the DCT shifter work correctly.

Ignore the messy interior. Taking out the NBT and retrofitting NBT Evo ID6 next.

Messy engine bay with the sweet N52B30. Still need to tidy up all the engine wiring tomorrow.

For some reason vimeo cant be embedded into this video. Heres the vimeo URL for those interested

Future Plans

- F10 side mirrors still needs work on the mounting and extra sound deadening, as right now there is no foam on the inner door panels and wind noise is pretty unbearable.
- Getting the M3 GWS to play well with 6HP19TU, if not then try to figure out how to mix and match.
- NBT Evo ID6 with ATM ConnectedDrive retrofit
- ACC Adaptive Cruise Control
- Only reverse camera is wired up to the TRSVC at the moment so need to fabricate the APIX cable that goes to the F10 side mirrors and run it all the way to the trunk.
- Comfort Access.

Very interesting stuff with the E60 transmission swap.
I'm considering doing the same with my MSV80/N52B25 325i. Does the E60 transmission only support E60 transmission calibration, or did you manage to flash a 330i calibration to yours?
And how does the electronic shifter fit? Is it plug and play with the E90 interior? I believe some N55/DCT E92's came with a very similar looking shifter, so I guess that may be an option otherwise.

Just curious, Do you have any of your notes from re-pinning the MSV70 throttle body connector to the MSV80 style?

Any updates on this? I also have a late 2005 model 330i and looking to do the same thing.

Does the harness plug to the transmission need to be repinned? Or does it connect with no modification?

Any more information would be appreciated
