Media adapter help

Hi guys

Hoping someone can help. I bought an iPhone 4/4s media adapter (part no. 84.21-2 199 392-04) to plug into the armrest. I was hoping to use the iPhone as an iPod to play music as it no longer has a functioning SIM card. However after plugging it in I cannot for the life of me find it on the CIC ?? Does the adapter need coding to the car ??

I have a 2012 e91 335d with professional nav. When I have checked my vin codes I have 6AA, 6AB, 6FL, 6VC, 609, 612, 615, 616, 620, 633 & 694 which I believe are all the codes associated with the nav/phone system.

If anyone can shed any light it will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Sorry mate, slightly off topic but how did you check your vin for which codes you have on the car? Also it is a shame they don't do the adaptor for the iPhone 6.

no worries....google BMW VIN decoder and there is quite a few that come up. You just need the last 7 digits from your VIN for most of them

I thought they did do an adapter for the 6 ?

try this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Genuin...-/201568884545

Cheers mate, I've had a look on a few and doesn't come up with those codes, I don't have a combox so probably why.

That has a picture of an iPhone 5 which makes me hesitant as does a lot of listing on eBay, can't find it for the 6 with an actual picture of one.

Might be worth download the BMW connect app on the iPhone and then trying again mate, might possibly help, I am new to the CIC game and just getting my head around and seeing what I can do.
