I actually hate the noise that these rotors make. Especially driving with the windows down. When these wear out I may go for the non dimpled version.

Does anyone know if the F8x rotors have the same height/offset as the Performance rotors? I see that they are much lighter. Since I have to get the rear calipers machined anyways, why not also get some brakes from a F80 and also mill down the rotors. I'm sure less than 5 mm is needed, as there is also some clearance between the rotors and calipers stock.
Yes, the pads will "hang" over the edge towards the center, but I inspected an M4 today and I could see that there is about 3-4 mm "unused" surface. Shouldn't be a problem. And what about F80 rears? They are 370 mm, so they would have to be machined (much) more.... |

I don't think it'll be that simple but I'm happy to be corrected. The 370mm are much bigger discs to fit on the rear and so the calliper would need to move out radially much more than the 2mm we normally have to elongate the holes. You'll either need a custom bracket or manage an f80 knuckle on an e90... M4 discs on the front has already been discussed and that also won't fit without serious modifications as well

Personally i would not do it. All BMW rotors are balanced at the factory and when you start taking away material even if everything was done 100% accurately you don't want to risk vibration or add the cost of balancing the discs.
Don't take this the wrong way but it is too much effort to make it worth it. |

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I know someone has to do the research, but last time I checked, I couldn't find the data sheet with all the dimensions from ATE or Brembo. feuer , is the E9x M rotors the same offset as the F30 Performance rotors? Regarding the front rotors, what was the serious modifications that was needed? If the offset is the same as the Performance rotors, they should fit with some milling. Can't believe they will suddenly be unbalanced with this modification either. I'm probably going to find a set of M Sport brakes, but there's not much available for a fair price. |

Omg, @mariusc I can't believe that you aren't willing to do any research on your own. Here:
- outside diameter: 350.0 mm (13.78") - annulus diameter: 220.0 mm (8.66") - face width: 65 mm (2.56") - overall depth: 66 mm (2.60") - initial disc thickness: 24.0 mm (0.945") - discard thickness: 22.4 mm (0.882") - bore diameter: 79.0 mm (3.11") - hub to center disc distance: 51.0 mm (2.01") - lug spacing: 5 x 120 mm - internal parking brake shoe diameter: 185 mm (7.28") - mass: ~8.95 kg - weight: ~19.7 lbs Bottoms line: same offset and only 5mm larger than F30 345mm rear Now I accept some donation. |

So I was able to get my brakes done!!!! The fronts were a direct swap from a 435i using the 340mm rotors. The rear calipers are the 2-piston calipers from the 135i. I used a F10 535i rotor and trimmed the dust shield. Took me a couple of times to bleed and get the pedal nice and firm, but using INPA definitely helped a lot.
I must say I don't notice that much of an increase in stopping power, but I haven't taken it to the track. As for the looks aspect, it was well worth the conversion. The yellow against the alpine white looks stunning ![]() Pictures coming once I wash her up. |
