Question Eibach Pro Street S

I'm very close to getting this setup but still have a few unanswered questions. I'm hoping that someone can answer them because I've been trying to find this out with no luck.

From my understanding the shocks/struts are made by KW and are identical to V1's and ST V1's but with the exception that they are stainless (not galvanized) like the KW's and are valved for the Eibach springs they come with. The springs rates are, Front: 134 - 271 lb/in (Progressive) | Rear: 456 lb/in (Linear). Pretty much the same spring rates as stock ZSP with the exception of the higher 271lbs in front as they progress. Another nice thing is they reuse the stock top hats and mounts so no worries about having any squeaking ect. that some coilovers setups are known to do.

That's what I know about them; what I don't know...

  • What's the minimal drop when these are adjusted to the highest setting compared to ZSP?
  • How does the ride quality compare with ZSP? Harsher, more jarring, stiffer, etc.?

I called up Eibach today, they said the minimum drop on 335i coupe is .8" from the stock suspension. Sport ZSP already has .6" drop over stock so expect it to sit near stock height at only .20" lower.

What about the ride comfort compared to ZSP? I am almost thinking about getting these too.

Im looking into the Eibach Pro-Street-S as well, so interested to hear about other user experience with them.

I know they are very popular for VAG cars here in Denmark, but haven't read any reviews by e90 owners.

I actually just got the Eibach Pro-Street-S Coil-Over System installed a couple of weeks back. First off let me tell you that I asked the shop to drop it more than I should have. I was pretty slammed and it wasn't the look I was going for but when I came to get my car I didn't have time to have the shop adjust them so I had to come back later. My first impression was, omg these are stiff as hell. I suspect it was because I was so low that I was riding the bump stops. After going back to the shop a few days later I got the car raised to the ride height I wanted and the ride quality was night and day. It was slightly stiffer to ZSP but still had a nice ride.

I'm very happy with the ride quality of the Eibach Pro-Street-S Coil-Over System. It's definitely stiffer but not in a bad way and the drop looks great. The car also handles so much better now and all my concerns are gone. Will post up pics once I wash my car, it's pretty dirty right now from all the rain we've been getting.

To answer the questions that I had...

  • What's the minimal drop when these are adjusted to the highest setting compared to ZSP?
For the front almost as high as stock, I didn't test this out but according to Eibach only .2" lower than ZSP. For the rear you adjust them to stock height or even higher if you like.
  • How does the ride quality compare with ZSP? Harsher, more jarring, stiffer, etc.?
The ride is a bit stiffer and the car far more compliant but the ride is not jarring or harsh. I'm also running non-RFT's.
  • Will the car rock back and forth when coming to a stop
I experienced just the opposite of this. My ZSP would rock a bit when coming to a stop which I always found very annoying. The Eibach Pro-Street-S also rocks a bit when coming to a stop but it's far less, almost to the point where you wouldn't perceive it unless it's a medium to hard stop.

Hopefully that helps with some of your questions.

Excellent, thanks Tag - I am somewhat still concerned about the level of comfort with these, and whether I would be better of with the Bilstein B12 kit.

Ideally would be finding someone who's got experience with both the Bilstein kit and a coilover similar tot he Pro-Street-S (KW1 maybe?).

Anyway - thanks for you review

KW1 and ST V1 have higher spring rates, so expect the ride to be stiffer with them compared to the eibach's.

My bad. The STs are galvanized and the KW V1s are stainless right?

Okay, perfect - then the question is just whether or not im better of with the Eibach coilover or the Bilstein B12 kit

Thanks.

That's probably $1065 before tax and shipping here in Canada.

What type of warranty do they come with?
