PS2 and crappy Canadian gas
Just a question for anybody running this setup. As everybody knows Canada gas sucks the tits. What HP at wheel can you achieve with pump gas and meth 50/50?
I am currently on PS1 FBO and meth. I hit 17psi to redline with about 9 ign advance. I am not sure what I am currently making power wise with that? Anybody take a guess? Oh I am also xdrive. Car feels fast. Is an upgrade to ps2 worth it? Or would I only gain a small amount more? Cheers |

I cannot tell you what is worth it for you but from what I have seen, most people that switch from the PS1 to the PS2 are happy they did.

Perfect. I think i might do it. I will have to get some additional fuel capacity. There is not much from the e92 n55 side except XDI? what are your thoughts on port injection?
And i have a final tune related question. I have a custom tune from wedge for my PS1. When i start the car first thing in the morning, or after not driving it for 8 hours during work, it will stumble and stall on first start. Sometimes twice, then it will start and work fine. When i remove the tune it goes away. Any thoughts? I reached out to Wedge and they told me to flash to stock then reflash. Same thing happens again. Then I remove the tune and it goes away. Not sure what is going on there. thoughts? |

You are getting into big money there sbuchana12. I know, as I have gone the same route. I have PS2, PI, e50, 6MT, 3.46 LSD... everything. The difference between PS1 and PS2 is akin to the difference between ooh, and ahh. When guys come on here asking which turbo to get in the first place they should be honest with themselves how far they really want to go. And how deep their pockets are. Pretty much every one of us that initially got the Pure 1 when it was released ended up with the Pure 2 when it came out. And yeah, every one of us would say that it was worth it.

As for tuning you should just follow up with Steven or Ken about the issue persisting after you flashed to stock and back to their tune.

I would wait to upgrade it in that case. I ran E30 at 19psi and 15 degrees of ignition advance on the stock fuel system and didn't have any crashing. Adding methanol injection should allow for a little more headroom and keeping things cooler with a higher ignition advance.
I honestly do not recall what upgrade options you have. I want to say someone came out with an adapter to essentially spin the HPFP faster. That was about the time I switched to a newer N55 and stopped paying attention to the development.

Awesome! Good to hear. For me it would be pump gas and Meth as I have no access to e85. I have heard our HPFP are heaps better then then the new style.

You will be octane limited unless you venture into port methanol injection. I found that without ethanol I could run 19psi at 10 degrees of timing on my local 92 octane and methanol. Timing corrections were very minimal and mostly showed up before methanol started spraying. That is why I started to add a gallon or two of ethanol to each tank.
