Is there a difference in a 328i and 328xi (engine wise)
Hey, I’m currently about to change my valve cover gasket. I own a 2011 BMW 328xi (xdrive), engine type: N52. I’m looking online to buy a new gasket and it always says it’s not available for my car but it will be available for a 2011 328i N52. I just want to know is there are any difference in the engines. Would a valve cover gasket fit the same on a 328i vs a 328xi? Thanks

Cylinder Head Cover Gasket; SAME on N52, N51: 328i/xi
Technically, your 2011 328xi has N52KP engine or N51 if SULEV. N52 is often used to describe EARLY engines with Magnesium alloy cover instead of the Plastic cover used on N52KP. Those early covers required replacement of the single-use aluminum bolts/fasteners due to the Magnesium cover.
According to RealOEM.com, the BMW Online Parts Catalog, the BMW Part# for the Gasket set you need is 11127582245. Here is the RealOEM.com page that lists models using that Part#, and also AutohausAZ page with same information: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/par...45&series=E90N https://www.autohausaz.com/pn/BM-11127582245 Do NOT assume that ALL parts are same between various models, but rather enter the last 7 characters of your VIN in the following page, and then save/ Bookmark the resulting page to use for any parts search for YOUR vehicle: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/select It is usually a good idea to enter that part# on several Vendor sites to (1) get the best price/value, and (2) confirm the correct part#. If you are looking for the best price, Amazon is often a surprise, plus prime shipping. Here is what appeared when I entered "BMW 11127582245" in the Amazon Search Box: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=BMW+11127...f=nb_sb_noss_2 If Brand of part cannot be confirmed, you may be "satisfied longer" by using a known Seller & OEM brand. every flavor in stock at FCP
https://www.fcpeuro.com/BMW-parts/32...=valve%20cover and depending on miles you should consider just replacing the whole valve cover, as the PCV is integral, and high mileage ones have issues with cracking when you manipulate them. the URO one is OK and half the price of OE. |
