Was rock solid, more grounded than my 335i was and I drove one with 50k miles.

It felt exactly like a bmw. Anyone compare driving the mini vs. the gti or mazda 3?

I agree with what you said about the Mini, it's a fun car to drive, plus with the stock tires on it and the awesome traction control, it is surprisingly good in the snow. Drove one a few years ago every day in snow storms and I'd be cruising, getting thumbs up as I drove with the 4WD SUV and truck people. My roommate has a Mazda 3. To me, it's just, okay. Okay car, drives okay, handles okay....it's just....okay.

What makes the turbo 1 especially nice over the supercharged mini?

go drive a gtr immediately. Even if you have zero intentions of buying now, you need to get seat time before you spend months thinking about it.
