Again INPA for 335d

Please share your thoughts and\or files

I have googled and read a lot of forums and threads.
I have installed different version of INPA, newer older and just different.
I had Sp-Daten files older and newer versions.
I have contacted different people from the forum.

But I can't find anywhere that mysterious file DDE73M57.

So, if somebody can share his INPA or this file, or any thought where to get it, please do so.

And by the way i will need to register a new battery, how you did this on your 335d?

FWIW, I don't believe that INPA script exists (DDE73M57). Have you tried DDE73N57? It defines SGBD D73N57A0. Your SGBD is a variant.

It took a few tries, lots of searching, and some patience with a torrent but I got Rheingold set up over the summer and it worked like a charm to talk to my 2011d. This requires just the standard tools and such, no hunting for specific DATEN files. I don't care about coding, just service/sensor items.

I didn't look into battery but all other functions seemed there. I used it for trannsmission reset adaptation and transmission temperature sensor reading during a change.

Forget DDE73N57, your variant is not supported by that script...my bad.

Your variant (D73N57C0) is supported by INPA script DDE73KWP.IPO.

Sure i have tried DDE73N57 script and it gives an error that command not accepted.

I have tried to install Rheingold but with no luck, couldn't make it work.
And i believe i might need some coding as well, like battery or possible other items, who knows with these diesels.

Again, my bad...DDE73N57 only supports variant D73N57A0 and the 335d with a M57 engine is variant D73N57C0 as seen in the external table T_GRTB.PRG:

Are you referring to the table above? That is from C:\EDIABAS\ECU\T_GRTB.PRG. You can open it in Tool32 to display the table. The ECU description files in the C:\EDIABAS\ECU folder are from the SP Daten.

All of the INPA scripts are stored in the C:\EC-APPS\INPA\SGDAT folder.

The DDE73KWP.IPO INPA script is available from the INPA for F-Series package which contains German language development scripts for INPA 5.0.6. You can get the download link from this thread:

It's handy to have the F-Series scripts (even though they're in German) because in addition to DDE73KWP, you'll also find scripts for other newer modules such as the EKPM3 (LPFP) control module...

Assuming that you have a working installation of BMW Standard Tools 2.12, when you receive the INPA for F-Series package, copy the DDE73KWP.IPO and DDE73KWP.INI files from the INPA_FXX\SGDAT folder to your C:\EC-APPS\INPA\SGDAT folder.

Then with Windows Notepad, edit the E90.ENG file in the C:\EC-APPS\INPA\CFGDAT folder. Add an entry for the DDE73KWP script.

I'm using SP Daten 50.2. The daten version required depends on your integration level. Integration levels map to ISTA/P versions, which then tells you the minimum daten release level needed to code your car.

Google "bmw group ista/p version and i-level overview" and examine a chart. Here is a recent example for SP Daten 57:

With regards to the battery registration, If you replaced it with the same type of battery and ampere-hour (Ah) you just need to register it with INPA or Tool32 and reset the charging histogram with INPA.

If you changed the type of battery (I.e. flooded to AGM) or Ah, then you will need to VO code the retrofit, in addition to the registration and histogram reset.

In Tool32, open the C:\EDIABAS\ECU\D73N57C0.PRG file. You should see a job titled, "steuern_batterietausch_registri." Run that job to register the battery.

Just had an injector short out and replaced it. I can confirm that the DDE73KWP script worked on my 2010 35d and allowed me to code the new injector. Vehicle Daten is V55.

When you click on DDE73 in the menu, a german error message appears. That says some like "languages are mismatched" according to google translate.

I thought it wouldn't work from there but if you click the button (says "ok" in german I think, don't remember), the DDE73 menu appears in German!

Tried INPA ~1.5 years ago and couldn't get it to work with the DDE73. Finally it works!

Now all we need is an English script

Many thanks to 808AWD325xi for telling us about the correct script for our engine!

After I coded the injector, I tried to start the engine and the battery died.

So I charged the battery overnight, tried to start it again and it won't fire. There fuel pressure in the fuel rail confirmed by INPA Analog values 1 screen.

No error codes stored.

I disconnected and reconnected the battery.

Set the injector code back to the original.

No fire. Cranks like crazy but I can't get a single puff out of it.

I'm stumped. The DDE doesn't appear to be pulsing the injectors.

Could INPA think it was coding another DDE73 variant and overwrote some operating code? I know this may be very unlikely but it is the only DDE code that changed (that I know of) since I drove into my driveway with the bad (shorted but disconnected) injector.

No, INPA cannot possibly confuse which DDE it's communicating with. Let me try to explain...

The INPA script DDE73KWP.IPO defines two DDE variants, D73N57B0 and D73N57C0:

808AWD325xi Thank you very much! I highly appreciate your help.

I was not very active trying it as there was no real need just yet. But yesterday the temperature dropped to -8F so the battery didn't made it I had installed a new one and now i have to register it.

I was able to connect using DDE73KWP, finally! After so much trial and errors.

But was not able to reset the battery, it is all in german and i was looking for something like %battery% but there is nothing or i didn't paid enough attention.

Elso i was trying to run the tool32 and open D73N57C0.PRG but getting error. I have tried to run just tool32 and inpa and tool32 at the same time with the same result^ Ediabas fehler: Initialization error.

May be you can advice on this?

Update.

Just went outside and tried again and it worked.
And i have found it on both sides, on INPA and Tool32 as well.

I have checked in INPA and it looks like i have a 90ah battery registered.
And i have bought Exide L5/49X, on their website it says that Ah Capacity (20hr) - 107.

Should i re-flash CAS to set it to 110Ah? or 90Ah will be good enough?
Any thoughts?

Attaching couple screenshots for refference and maybe somebody will be looking into.

That initialization error in Tool32 usually occurs when either you're not connected to the vehicle, or that SGBD file cannot access the module...i.e. it's not currently installed.

From the screenshots that you posted, I gather that you weren't able to open SGBD file D73N57C0.PRG, but you were able to open SGBD file D73N57E0...is that correct?

If your DDE variant is D73N57E0, it is supported by INPA script DDE7UDS.IPO. Can you run that script and post a screenshot?

I would probably leave it coded for 90Ah so that you don't risk overcharging the battery. However, that's not necessarily the consensus:

Also, I suggest viewing <F2> PM 1 Byte field to verify the mileage of the vehicle when the battery was registered:
