Mpg e90
Hey all,
Just wondering, what is everyone's average mpg on their car? I have about 72000 on mine, I don't always use premium and will use some octane boost, but what's normal and what mpg is a concerning number ? Thanks, Nick |

I get 13-14 mpg combined (probably more city than highway).
All highway I get 27-29 mpg. The best I ever got was just a touch over 29 mpg. FYI, I don't usually use the on-board mpg estimator. In my experience, on my E90, it is perhaps 0.5 mpg optimistic. When I get gas, I just divide the miles driven by gallons filled to estimate mpg. 3.0L single turbo, 6 speed automatic, xDrive, and I always fill with the highest octane availible (usually 92oct where I live). |

My 335xi gets 18/19 city. I've never taken it on an extended highway trip preferring to let a rental take that abuse, but on shorter trips the computer has claimed 27-31.

21-22, up to 27 on the highway.
MPG is the least of my concerns expense-wise when owning a BMW though...

Great numbers, thanks. I know it sounds silly, it's almost another 50 cents a gallon for premium, I'm being cheap I guess. Since the manual said it would be fine, I went along and did it. If it said I couldn't, I would definitely only fill premium. |

With the turbo cars some people run a mix of ethanol and gasoline for more power. E30 would be 30% ethanol content in the fuel. Most gas stations you see (at least in my area) have E10 fuel and will say "contains 10% ethanol" on the side of the pump.

That's not ok. But ok. Minimum is 91 octane. Anything lower and the car has to retard the timing so it can run optimally, actually sub optimal to prevent damage. Run super and only super. Don't cheap out on gas. Also stick to top tier gas.

Weird I just checked and for 2006 it says minimum 91 2007 says 87. What year is your car? Also in the winter I would run higher octane fuel. The car just runs better.
