Volkswagens TDIs were the same. Mod them for power, and you end up with a more reliable, more fuel efficient vehicle. It's all backwards my dude, and it's amazing. Hybrids on a daily that never sees the track or the strip is certainly overkill. Going off of what BPC shows, I say a Stage 3 with meth is the maximum a daily driver that never goes to the track or strip should see.

Really have to define daily driver. A stage 2 335D or X5 has more passing/merging power than probably 90% of commuter traffic. Unless you work on a drag strip, anything above that is a personal preference. I myself would love the extra power of a 2.5 or 2.8, but quite frankly I have a hard enough time staying "safe" with a stg 2.

The more power you add, the more stress you will put on mechanical components.

My daily driver is going to be Stage 2+. For my driving, I think that's pretty fair. If I ever go stage 3, I'll have another car that I can drive around. It just depends on what you feel works for you.

I am on Stage 2+ right now since 117k miles, just hit 125k and a injector failed. Wasn't related to driving though, just cold temps and bad fuel. I bought this as a daily but I now have a Pontiac Grand Prix as my back up. I'm fairly confident after I repalce the injectors this week I should be out of the worry free zone as everything else has been addressed.

Stage 2+ & illiterate for the last 4K miles without a problem (at 99k miles now). Car is fantastic and gets driven 80-150 miles per day as I use it for work. I love this car! I'm going to do a water pump, thermostat, hoses, and belt soon as preventative maintenance. Then a upgraded crank pulley when they come out.

Why the water pump? I haven't seen any cases of it going bad.

I'm in the same boat. I've got a thermostat to put in, but may do the water pump as well while they are in there.

I saw a few fail around the 125k-150k miles when I was at the dealer. Not very common but I have always looked at cooling system work as preventative maintenance. My fuel economy dropped to 20mpg over the last 2 days as well so I think the thermostat has failed or is on its way out anyway. And I need a accessory belt. No better time to do it than when that's all apart.
