CIC Retrofit
I am looking taking the plunge into the CIC retrofit. I currently have a non iDrive 07 e92 with a 01/07 build date. I believe I have everything figured out but I wanted to verify a couple things.
I currently have the Logic7 (S677) with the Professional HU (S663). Do I need to be looking at specific CIC HUs or are they all the same? I have BMW assist so that means I have a GPS antenna already correct? Will this connect to the CIC or do I need to still add another GPS antenna? For those that have also install the combox, would it make it easier if I installed it at the same time or is there no difference? I believe I just have the MULF and not the TCU. I am going to verify this but I have option S639 so I assume I have at least one or the other. Thanks for reading |

you have tcu since you have assist
and you'll need one more fakra gps cable if you want to connect gps to cic in a factory way any cic will work with logic7 you also may be need sirius fakra cable to extend sirius signal to HU with CIC

Will335i you have TCU. If you have USB in the center console compartment than you have MULF too. Have you purchased the parts for the retrofit already?

I was about to make a new post but saw this similar question so figured I would just ask here.
I have a 2008 335i, it has CCC with the wide screen lcd, navigation,BMW assist and aux in cable under console but NO USB, I have park assist as well, beeps at me and shows a display of the car when backing up and Satellite radio as well. I have DVD and CD players both, IDrive controller with just one large menu button, I have Bluetooth for calls and the voice activated option also. I have found a donor car with CIC, a 2013 328i, what do I need to get from the donor car other than the obvious to me, the CIC screen, head unit with DVD player and the idrive controller with more than the one menu button like mine has now, anything else ? I would assume any cables I see as well ? I would like to keep all my features I have and just add the upgraded CIC and it's new features. Thanks! Last edited by skeen70; 02-12-2018 at 06:33 PM.. |

you will need upgraded display cable and usb cable to glovebox, another display power jack, another centre console trim
you will also need emulator to activate navigation and voice input again there also another way to activate these features using script you'll also will need to code new headunit to your car options there are many topics on that forum about cic retrofit with pictures, part number and DIY

Just trying to determine the best method based on what I have in my car now, I see the emulator can save some coding headache's so I may do that as well. |

your tcu and mulf will work with cic without problem
but if you would want new features of the combox you have to replace them with combox forgot to mention that you may probaly need to rewire sirius antenna to CIC ( and have CIC with sirius) and also new sirius subscription activation (new SID) or transfer activation from old SID to new if that possible with sirius

What exactly have you bought for the retrofit so far?
Coding you can do by yourself.

So I started to gather parts for this retrofit and decided I am going to add the combox as well. My plan is to get the CIC in and working and then add the combox. One question I have and keep running into road blocks is the wiring and coding. Can I wire it and code it without an emulator or is that an absolute must? Will NCSExpert take care of everything I need coding wise?
Parts I have: CIC CID CIC Controller Center Console Trim 4 and 8 pin connnectors CIC to CID cable CIC USB cable Combox (84109257163) Combox retrofit wiring Parts I need: Dual Scoop Dash Is there anything else I am missing? |

Don’t need an emulator. You have to use the CIC patcher so that you can make your own FSC codes, which requires your CIC to be on the latest software (unless things have changed recently).
You’d have to use fstool to sign and load the FSCs From that point NCS can take care of the rest. |

Awesome. I will keep reading up on the coding tools then. I still need to figure out the wiring portion too. The write-ups I keep finding are for the CCC or CCC to CIC. I want it to look as factory as possible since its part of the whole reason I am going with the CIC instead of an aftermarket head unit.

If you don't have the Logic 7, I think the speakers are wired somewhat differently, but I'm not sure about the details. |

oh, i forgot to say before that if you install everything and there will be no sound - you'll need to update firmware in harman kardon amplifier and after that sound from CIC will work
