Accessing Xdrive Transmission Fill Plug!? Help Needed

I'm in the middle of changing fluid in my transfer case and transmission. I'm stuck at the transmission fill plug. I just cant seem to access it. I cut down a 8mm hex key but the damn drive shaft is right in the way. Does anyone have a pointer of trick they used to get at the plug? I'm basically at a stand still until I can access that thing.

You have to disconnect the front drive shaft to access the transmission fill plug, not a big job.

I figured that. I'm going to try and avoid that if possible. I think I might approach it like the transfer case fill plug. I'm going to use a 1" piece of 8mm hex and a ratchet wrench. Maybe I can weezle my way in there that way.

It must be an auto, because on the 6sp manual, you don't disconnect anything... easy access to all of them; just have to remove the metal shield.

To follow up, I ended up just un bolting the drive shaft. It was really simple.
