HTC Sensation 4G and 2006 330xi with iDrive.

Stock: voice is ok but contacts would not transfer.

Cyanogenmod 7: voice is ok, contacts are ok.

I suspect there is an issue with HTC Sense interfacing with BMW bluetooth.

I have a Galaxy Nexus with Android 4.0.1 and it won't detect the car's bluetooth at all. My iphone 4 and 4S pair without issues.

I have tried .004 and .005 versions for the iDrive bluetooth and both give me the same results.

Samsung Focus does not work. It pairs fine (had me excited for a minute), but I can only make one phone call. All subsequent calls ring but no voice is transferred. The phone randomly reboots also while in the car.

HTC One XL from AT&T works with 2011 iDrive equipped car.

One caveat, I cannot get it to auto-pair for some reason. I have to select the phone from the list in the iDrive manually to pair.

Edit: it automatically pairs now after rebooting the phone.

HTC One X works in: E93 2007 335i M Sport Convertible with the I-Drive Bluetooth package.

HTC Desire HD also works in:E93 2007 335i M Sport Convertible with the I-Drive Bluetooth package.

Both phones work fine in my car. Can use I-Drive to scroll through address book etc. Can also use BMW Voice to dial numbers, contact names etc.

Only problem with BMW Voice/phone interface is that it puts a /M or /H or /W after each name depending on if they are stored as Mobile, Home or Work numbers for the contact. So instead of saying "Phone Dave Smith" you now have to say "Phone Dave Smith Slash M" if you have his number saved as a mobile.

Alphabetically - there is a bug in that it sorts the alphabet by Case Size first, then letter. So Dave and dave are going to seperated by Deirdre, Delilah, Debbie, Donal, dan. I don't know if the alphabet bug is in my phone, or if it is in BMW.

HTC EVO LTE & '09 335i - No love yet. The phone just arrived, so I've not had a lot of time to get into heavy diagnostic thinking, it paired quickly but drops connection rapidly and repeatedly. Contacts will not transfer. Understand HTC is aware of similar connection problems with the One X variant.

I'll post as I learn more.

[UPDATE: I was able to solve the dropped connection issue. Unpaired the phone and the car, re-paired but declined the 'make contacts available for transfer' option. Connection seems to be solid, but I'm unable to transfer my contacts. Not super happy about. Emailed my SA, he indicated there was not an Bluetooth update available. Had my car been a model year later it looks like BMW has a DIY update solution. Hoping HTC comes up with something. BTW - The new phone is fantastic.]

Well I have a Samsung Galaxy SIII, and a BMW 335 E92 with bluetooth, from 2007-12 (manufactured). I have all the latest software in my car (done in May this year, so maybe some software has been released since then, but more or less everything is up-to-date in the car for the moment).

It connects, and downloads all contacts, handsfree works and so on.

However if I then, for example, leavs the car, and lock the doors - go away for a say 10 minute walk - comes back, starts the car, and I can see that the SIII reconnects, signalstrength and so on. However all contacts are now gone from the car, but stil available in the mobile phone.

Solution is to disable bluetooth on the SIII, and re-enable bluetooth. After this the phone reconnects, and everything works.

Until next time I leave my car... Then I have to stop and restart bluetooth on the Galaxy SIII to get the contacts back online in the car/iDrive.

Do observe that I can stil answeer (no matching on phonenumbers though) incomming calls and speak thru handsfree/bluetooth. But I can NOT get any contact information (or number matching on incomming calls) from the cars phonebook (or should I say, from the mobile downloaded contacts into the cars phonebook).

Something get's wrong in the SIII after it looses the connection to the car, and when it reconnects, for some reason the contacts are not downloaded correct or something...

By the way, my HTC Desire and my Sony Xperia S both works perfectly - it's just the Samsung Galaxy SIII that only partly works.

One question though: Does anyone know if and from which year the rSAP (remote SIM Access Profile) might work ? Could I get it working on my 335 ?

Update: Efter the latest firmware in my Samsung Galaxy S3 (LH1) I have lost all contacts permanently in the car - I never get ANY contacts downloaded.

The same goes for the previous version of the firmware as well.

It's a shame that Samsung can't get this working. The S3 is supposed to be Bluetooth 4.0 compatible - but it is not.

Current advice is: Stay as far away from the Samsung Galaxy S3, if you ever plan to use it with a BMW bluetooth connection - it will simply not work.

OK i think your onto something as the only thing i can think i changed was the modem on my phone, maybe the kernal too but i have since reset it and also tried three modems but cannot find the working version.

I made a post here:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?p=12570819

I am now tempted to go through every modem until i get the damn thing to work. Maybe its this which is causing the problem

I had a similar problem with my T-Mobile G2 sending contacts to my 09 335D's iDrive. I just got an S3 this weekend and the same fix worked for my Galaxy S3 as for the G2.

It sounds like a PITA but it's a one-time thing, so bear with me.

On your phone, go to System Settings -> Application Manager.

Click on the Running tab, then locate the Bluetooth service(s) and click on it.

Find the BluetoothPbapService. This is the service which handles sharing your contacts. Click Stop, and at the confirmation prompt, confirm that you want to stop this service.

Your car should now be able to get your contacts out. If you reboot your phone, the service will be running again, but your car will still be able to access the contacts.

I have no idea why this is necessary, but it worked like a charm for my G2 and now my Galaxy S3.

good luck.
