Issue with new wheels/tires
I just recently got a set of brand new wheels/tires from a member here. They were originally for his E92, but everyone said that they could fit my E90 which as correct. Anyhow... I had a proffesional shop put them on and they immediatley said that my lugs wouldn't work, but then retracted that statement and said they would. The wheels/tires get on (look killer) and i'm driving away, and up about 40 mph i notice a wobble in the steering wheel, nothing crazy but it's there. I start to drive more, and i also now notice my car is pulling hard right. Any ideas as to what could be the issue? The guy at the tire shop was rude to begin with because in his words "you didn't buy the wheels and tires from us", tells me that it could be the hub centric (spelling?) ring and to call the guys who originally put the package together which is tirerack.com I decided to get a second opinion, and the next tire shop said that sometimes they have to swap the front two tires to eliminate the pulling and that road forcing and re-balancing should take care of any issues.
Could someone please help me out? I do not know much about wheels, balancing, aligning, etc. and i don't want to be led into something i'm not sure about which in the end might not do the trick and will cost me excess money. Thanks in advance guys! Last edited by 7586; 08-30-2007 at 12:16 PM.. |

Sounds like you've already gotten it worked out. Get em' road force balanced and you should be good to go. Otherwise contact the seller and ask them about the Hub rings or post up the details of your wheels and folks here will probably know whether they are Hub Centric or not.
You're in Cali so it's not like there is a lack of quality shops in your area, someone will be able to get you squared away.

They seemed to be unsure about the lugbolts, and while it may sound stupid, you might just want to check to see that they are all tightened.

This happened to me on my Ruff Racing wheels. I upgraded to iForged... when you buy a BMW, you can't purchase a 1pc cast wheels! For me, it just doesn't work that way..
50K car + 1K wheels =/
