Why do forged n54 internals come up in any thread regarding turbo upgrades or big power, even in an n55 thread?

Do you guys say you have forged n54 internals at a job interview, or your 10 year high school reunion? They're not even forged with the exception of the crankshaft. Lol

+1 this is our goal to have the collectors done. The project goal is to be complete by end of the year. Will update with pics as things are completed.

Actually, the rods are forged too. Pistons aren't quite forged, rather hypereutectic... But who's counting right? :

^^ That is a fantastic article on the 7163 vs a ton of other turbos. it holds 25 psi no problem on that STI, 2.5L hits 20 psi by almost 3000 rpm, we should see even better spool than that!

In for more updates !!

D'oh. good point. Wonder if he would consider the 7163 as well?

Probably. If its smaller then getting it to fit shouldnt be a problem. I think he wanted the bigger less restrictive AR but if the 0.64 holds 25psi to redline, then...

Yeah im all over all the turbo upgrade threads lol. But I personally dont see how he can range the 7064 from 350-550 then say his garrett hybrid will likely make 500-550

Our selections are based around the options for the BW EFR Twin Scroll Internally wastegated housing in the B2 frames. This limits us to the EFR7064 for 550hp, EFR7670 for 650hp, and the EFR8374 for 750hp.

At some point we may convert over to external gates (for more options), but initially feel that the simplistic nature of the internal gates will help keep the install and component requirements minimal (yet entirely functional). And besides it seems entirely plausible that these options will exhaust the N55's potential in strength as is anyway.

Understood. Any luck with tuning thus so far? How is the manifold coming along? 7670 sounds like a plausible option without too much lag.

Not officially on hold, just been swamped with N54 turbos the past couple months. In which case that is revenue (with paying customers wanting products) whereas the N55 project is expense (will not see a penny until completely done and tested at our expense), so have to do the smart thing for now.

In the meantime another N55 turbo option is/was expected to be tuned a week+ or so ago, so we expect that will be soon. It will be interesting to see how that goes, if it pushes any limits of the other N55 systems/engine/etc of which will help determine how viable an even bigger upgrade will stand to the platform. Simply prioritization's for now, but this certainly is not off the radar entirely.

Thanks for keeping us abreast of the situation. Completely plausible you'd like to focus on n54 cars for the time being, being that's your cash cow until the n55's overtake the 335/135/535/x1/x3/x5 scene become the more dominant platform.

I'm holding out for your upgrade! I like a completely separate platform, built from the ground up, the manifold and setup as it stands is inhibiting the engine gains plus this opens the door for bolting on a different BW turbo down the road as well, and perhaps an external wastegate if necessary.

Good luck and I'll be glued to this thread
