I did the drive around/idle/clear codes/etc procedure from the install instructions. The SES light hasn't come on (yet) but I don't have readiness with the O2 sensors and I have pending codes P013E & P013A. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that the SES light stays off but I suppose that remains to be seen.

The SES light came back this morning on my drive to work.

It'll probably be a little while before I have the time to pull the intake off to get a good shot of the wiring.

I'm thinking there's a possibility the O2 sensor got tweaked in some way during the downpipe install, but my next step is to do that jumper wire as described in the install notes to bypass the DP fix and see what codes I get. If the code switches to the usual P0420 or other catalyst efficiency codes, then I can probably conclude the O2 sensor is ok, but if these codes remain with the DP fix bypassed then it's probably an issue with the sensor and/or the wiring.

Yeah I didn't want to saying for sure it was the Area 74 until VRSF decided to share that information.

I haven't really had a chance to mess with this, been real busy. But I was able to confirm at least that the light on the catsim is not turning on when I turn on the car, so there's definitely some kind of wiring problem here.

I'll have much more free time after my wedding this weekend so I'm going to attempt to check the wiring out more comprehensively, otherwise will take it back to my mechanic who did the install originally.

Looks like the problem was in the type of posi-tap connectors used. Rather than the specific kind linked to in the DIY install thread, my mechanic had gotten some similar-looking connectors locally. Since the DP fix wasn't getting power, I went and ordered the exact posi-taps mentioned in the DIY thread.

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_669PP64...onnectors.html

Mechanic went back and redid the wiring with these posi-taps and ditched the other ones. The green light on the DP fix is now coming on as it's supposed to. I'm picking up the car this afternoon and will be able to do the code clearing, drive cycle, etc. and will report back. But fingers crossed that now that I have the green light on, it should be working correctly. Looking forward to no longer having the stupid SES light on all the time.

I haven't put a ton of miles on the car since picking it up on Friday, but so far no SES light and when I scanned it today with Torque, no stored or pending codes. I have about 3/8 of a tank of gas at the moment and I think the EVAP readiness monitor resets when you open the gas cap, so I'll check readiness with my scanner before my next fill-up. But so far it appears to be working as intended.

Actually, now that I think about it, the EVAP readiness probably doesn't have anything to do with the gas cap, it's just it takes longer after the codes being cleared to show readiness. I checked readiness and everything except EVAP is showing ready.

Looks like everything is behaving as it should!

Figured I'd check readiness again tonight after a few more days worth of driving. EVAP is now good to go. So in theory i could pass emissions, if I actually had emissions testing where I live. I just want the DME to think everything is OK and no SES light.

Atlas does your A74 Sim blink when the engine is running? I'm having a heck of a time driving without getting codes..

the LED on my sim stays constant but I've read for others it blinks.

AtlasM In one of your responses you said since the SIM was not getting power- how did you determine that? No Light on the SIM?

I have mines installed using the positaps linked in the DIY install which is the same instructions that VRSF sends and my light is on and it blinks when the engine is warmed up- so I have to assume that it is working.

However- I do get codes which are Permenat and trigger the CEL. My states will be READY- but the Oxygen Sensor ones take a little longer- and by the time they are ready my CEL is on and I have the codes.

It sounds like either a bad connection or maybe my O2 sensor is bad? Not sure how that could be the case as I never had any codes before flashing back to MHD Stage 0 aka stock.

I have an 11 335i Xdrive with the VRSF Catless DP.

Has anyone come up with a solution to this problem. I am on my 2nd DP fix. Tiago sent me another one for free because I thought the first one was faulty, but the 2nd one is doing the same thing. SES light with codes about slow and delayed response. I used the original Catsim with the green light 2 years ago and passed emissions just fine. All systems go into ready mode (except catalyst) but I can't pass emissions with the SES light on.

Yes I am experiencing the same issue right now. I can get my catalyst into ready mode but I get the Engine Light and the two codes I posted above regarding delayed response. I asked Thiago about the unit- how to ensure that is not defective from factory type of thing- he said they test them before shipping or something? I should know later this week- will take it off and see if perhaps its the o2 sensor or and will update this post.

The sensor could be damaged from the removal process from the OEM cat. My rear O2 sensor was giving me a permanent SES light for heater sensor disconnect. As soon as I replaced the rear O2 sensor, the code and SES light disappeared.

They're all tested prior to shipping. Please keep in mind that these are intended for temporary use only. If kept on the car longer than a few days they will throw codes.

Had a similar thing. 2 sensors shipped.

Meanwhile, I had to pass emissions on my 4th attempt! (process itself was pain in the ass)

So for 4th attempt, took off catted dowpipe and put on OEM.

Have to do it again this winter. Will attempt the DP fix thing first.

Tiago@VRSF - would 300ish miles be too long on the car? I had codes from day 1..
Do you suggest to take off car- drive a little without it and then try to put it back on or?
