I just did the transmission fluid drain and fill on 07 335i 89k miles with the new Valvoline Multi-import full synthetic. Seems to be the best fluid you can buy for the best price. check out the data sheets, and it specifically lists the zf 6hp19 as a compatible transmission with the fluid. The car definitely shifts much smoother.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It seems like Valvoline is being overlooked on this forum, considering it is a full synthetic and very reasonably priced. I am considering using their Maxlife ATF as it meets/exceeds the Shell M1375.4 spec.

I used D6 and dont really like it. Its notchy and shifts are sightly harsh. If i use M mode and shift @ WOT around 4k i can feel the notch of it disengaging and then re engaging the clutch. Its like a double clutch. No slipping, no noises, just TOO NOTCHY! However it could be the Alpina flash as I have never shifted that high with the factory TCU flash.

What a mess, I have a friend that is having problems with his 6hp19, I going to put 5 new liters of the same oil that I always use to zf 5hp19, can I top off with the equivalent of esso lt71141?

He has only 58000 miles and is having this codes:

004F81 EGS: ratio monitoring, clutch A
004F84 EGS: ratio monitoring, clutch D
004F97 EGS: ratio monitoring, clutches B-D

I use Amsoil.

Do a complete flush by disconnecting the hot side of the transmission cooler line into a gallon milk jug. Mark it off at the 3qt mark. Run 3qts out. Put 3qts into the pan. Do this 4x, for a total of 12qts. Your transmission fluid should be bright red coming out of the trans cooler line by the time you have done this 4x.

Then make sure the trans fluid temp is between 86 - 120 degrees F. Once at temp, fill pan filter until it starts to leak out at a small, steady stream. Put the full plug in. Run it through the gears a few times and then repeat the fill process until it leaks out at a small & steady stream.

I do this every 50,000 miles. Remember, the internal parts are not brand new anymore. So, you need to take extra care of things. This would be especially true if you waited 100,000 miles before you did the first transmission fluid change because of the BMW Lifetime deal.

I've made the change after 75k miles with Febi Bilstein (due lack of other options in my country and complicated customs to import oils). Also change the pan and bolts. Mine is a ZF6HP19

So far everything is working well, shift smoother.

Nowdays this thread should be alive because I realized that the 6hp19 is kind of problematic

Do not use redline D6. It could be my particular car does not like it but it absolutely ruined the way my car drives. The shop I go to put that in after doing my mech sleeve and I HATE it. Honestly just stick to lifeguard 6 or Mercon SP

I would say the ZF6HP19 is problematic only from the standpoint that the megatronic sleeve has a tendency to leak. My 1st one started leaking at around 90,000 miles. My current one has 60,000 miles and is not leaking.
