$900 for dealer SAT Rad? Spent less than $200 for aftermarket RCVR using the roof ANT
I am not cheap, but 900 dollars for dealer to give me something I can do for less than $200?
And I bet some of you that are smarter can do it better for less than that. The best part was that I was able to connect into the SAT antenna already on the roof (if you have SAT PREP). - Replaced the ashtray/cigarette lighter with the sunglass holder. - Extended antenna cable from the trunk. - Used the power from the cigarette lighter connector that was removed. - Ran audio cable to aux connector. These are the parts used: XACT SAT Radio Model XTR8CK home/car pack from Costco -- 110 dollars. BMW sunglass holder, part number 51 16 7 132 376 -- 32 dollars. XHW12V Hardwire Cable for XTR3, 7 and 8 -- 14.95 dollars. Monster Sirius Antenna extension cable -- 39.95 dollars. Not giving dealer $900 to stick it to you -- priceless. (4 hours work) See pictures below with the lid open and closed. I just finished it, so I am gonna run it for a week. If all works great and I see the reception is good, I will post a DIY for those of you interested. Cheers, |

Well done, sir!
How hard was it to run the AUX jack under the center console? Did you have to do any splicing in order to use the ashtray cig lighter or can you still plug in the cig light plug? Thanks and
