Blackout Mods Complete - Pics ....
I just finished the following Mods on my new 2008 328xi E92 - Jet Black
I have had a LOT of positive comments in the last 2 days locally ... I'm VERY happy with the Blackout theme ... Still considering Black window trim and slightly tinted windows. (illegal here, so need to be careful)
Front Grille & Roundel Pic ...... Reflector and Wheel Roundel pic .... Matt Black Pipe tips pic ...... Full Car pic 1 ...... Full Car pic 2 ...... Did I miss anything obvious other than what I mentioned above? Any and all comments welcomed. Cheers Last edited by Vacek; 06-16-2008 at 07:31 AM.. |

I'd paint the reflectors, and tint the rear tails too if I was you.
Now let's get some full car pics to see how it all comes together!

I say go with the tint but leave the chrome trim around the windows since your wheels are silver, if you had black wheels, that might be different but I say tint and you're done...looks good.

Your car looks great! I have a Jet Black 335i and wanted to install the driver side keylock cover. I purchased one, however, the instructions were for the E46. Could you describe how you installed the cover? Are you aware of any online instructions (with photographs) on how to complete the install? TIA

I just did it last evening ... and I must say, WHAT A PAIN IN THE BUTT The instructions are simple, lift the rubber flap in the door jam, which will reveal a very small hole to the backside of the stock keyhole cover. Loosten that as much as you can, then grab hold of the lock on the outside (the cover and all) and jiggle, pull, grunt, jiggle more, grunt more, etc ..... Mind you I was trying to be careful as heck, but at the end of the day, it requires some serious effort to pull it off. Dont give up. Keep in mind that the clear insert for the courtesy lights does NOT come off as part of the stock keyhole and cover ... it is simply an insert (wired and attached inside the door) ... it slides out of the stock keyhole/cover assembly as you *yank* the existing cover off. It comes off Cover and complete keyhole/mechanism assembly all attached together. It will all make since once you see it :0 Re-install is simple and takes 20 seconds ... put the new cover on, while sliding the light into the new cover. Hold firm, and tightem back up the screw you originally loostened. I just got frustrated again typing this |

Car looks good!
Funny story - I was driving through the valley tonight looking at houses and saw a sweet E92 coupe and thought - man I didn't know the blackout grill was available. I was double taking to see if maybe it was an M3. I came home and did a search on E90post to see if the grill was available and discovered we're practically neighbours. Small world. I own a silver E90. Not modded (except Zaino and removing the rear parcel shelf to fix the rattle mod) and not nearly as beautiful as your blacked out E92. Did you buy yours in Halifax or Moncton? Anyway - I'm really impressed - your car looks great! |

I tossed around the painted reflectors ... and I just like the cleared ones ... that and they are still effective. I think smoked might be the closest I would ever go.
But like anything, personal preference. |

Lowered, agree....
Except for the fact I will likely be using it as a snowplow here in Eastern Canada this coming winter. I just cant bring myself to lower it due to the climate & dirt roads (well, poorly paved ones) here. |
