$800 for 6FL?!?!?!
My '00 3 recently died and I just picked up a '06 325i. I talked to the dealer today about installing the 6FL and the quote was $799!!!!!
I installed a DICE unit in my '00 and loved the integration. Is there anything else I can do that's not going to cost me $800??? I also asked about bluetooth retrofit and was hoping to hear $1k, but if the 6FL retrofit is so expensive, who knows how much the bluetooth will cost!!! |

I'm going this route... http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=184807
The only drawback is not being able to use USB media storage. $300 or so. |

There is no 6FL retrofit. Not sure what he quoted you.

mObridge has an interface for iPod and bluetooth integration. EAS as it for $850. It looks like a good product and there are good reviews for the mObridge iPod interface... still looking for comments on the mObridge bluetooth...

if all you want is ipod the factory ipod interface will be cheaper, and I can't see 6fl being that expensive- ask the guys at Tischer or Dan at United BMW, they may be able to help

There is a 6LF retrofit part number, for some reason - BMW has not yet released it. For some odd reason, coding was released over 6 months ago.

Hi Tom; I added a reply to your mObridge iPod post too ;-)
I've been searching all week for a solution just like the mObgidge product. This looks great; integrated bluetooth AND iPod? Sweet! I also saw your post at M3 post; do you know if there are any DIY's out there for installing this? I would like to know what I'm getting into. Also, is the CDC only programming from the dealer all that's required to make this work? |

For programming, your dealer would need to code the mULF and CDC, it's best to locate an independent shop with an autologic (www.autologic.us) since those units have mObridge-specific programming. The best part about the mObridge units is that they are end user-upgradeable, meaning that if phones or iPods are significantly changed in the future - a simple firmware upgrade is all that's needed.

Thanks Tom; this really looks like a great product. I have a base '06 325i. The iPod install is pretty straight forward; is there no additional wiring for mic etc. for the bluetooth? Also, is the cabling long enough to route the iPod cable in the center console instead of the glove box?

Thanks for all the great info Tom. Also, I finally found the thread for this; I had to find it in google (the search here sucks). Can you send me the install instructions? I would like to know what I'm getting into ;-)

I'll get everything together in a few weeks and put together a write up with install DIY and experiences. Also, I'm new to this forum (as I'm new to the E90). It's great to see such a responsive community |

It's a USB port in addition to the audio jack. The radio can access and control music on things attached to the USB port. You use both the USB port and the audio jack when connecting an ipod via the special Y cable.

We are actually starting to look at this now. It will be some months away yet while we complete a couple of other projects so end of year is our projection on this. If only BMW stopped tooling with the car so often....

That's the best news I've heard all day! The 09+ have no BT pre-wiring so coming up with complete BT kit should reveal a good market for mObridge. |
