Cost to Maintain ???
Hi all,
I have a 07 335xi CPO car. Absolutely love the car !!! Only have 60,000 miles on her. The CPO is do to run out this time next year. I have never had to service the car myself. Therefore I would like some advise or input on maintaining the car myself because it seems costly via BMW. I would say I am a pretty decent mechanic with general maintenance on all of my other cars/trucks prior to this one. Lastly, Should I keep it or Trade it in on a newer CPO General / Thoughts / Comments Thanks in advance L.J. |

I would not keep it without warranty. simple as that. unless you are prepared to throw money away as things will break and they will cost. Buy another with warranty and sell this one.

For me, the n54 simply could not be replaced with an n55 without feeling depressed. Thats why I will keep this as long as I can, always using the best fluids I can maintain it with, upgrading everything that wears or things I break, etc. If you want to modify it aggressively and love it a ton and also want to keep it for a long time, expect the car's total cost to own, maintain and play with to exceed what you paid for it and thensome. Also, get a bavarian technic cable so that you can diagnose the car yourself. |

got 130k miles on an 06 330xi. You should plan on a new water pump soon, this is common and will get you stuck on the road, so best you do it as preventive maintenance. Had a electric control module go at 120k miles (not common), $800 and seems related to a trunk wire issue . Had the clutch replaced at 90k, but I think the dealer did it as a favor since I had the extended maintenance and it was covered. Had some leaking oil gaskets replaced at that time as well. You probably need to plan on $1k of maintenance for every 20k miles from the 60k you have on the car now.

The ECU going out is kinda scary for me to hear. I don't have a 335 but looking to buy a 335xi. What was wrong with your ECU? I assume your car is at least a 2006 right.

I'm out of warranty and am about to cross the 50k mile mark... Been tuned for a couple thousand miles now. I'm not too worried about the cost to maintain as I have a great Indy mechanic. I would agree with what someone stated above that you should budget about $1,000 every 20k / 1 year of ownership....

Guys, I think this whole thing is blown out of proportion. Yes it'll cost a bit to maintain it, but people make it seem like you're gonna declare bankruptcy. Now sometimes shit happens and something breaks and then it's extremely expensive. Other than the rare and random things that could happen, you can expect some common issues.. I say stick with your car if you like it, if not, I guess you have a reason to switch it up!
Just make sure you can afford it when those "random" issues might come into play haha Either way, just my .2 cents
