Just did this mod, noticeable increase in exhaust sound. Off to scan with BT tool to see if it throws a code.

I have unplugged it a dozen+ times, and have never had the dealer say a thing about it. Just remember to plug it back in before you go, only takes a minute either way.

good stuff
I tired this on my 335xi and found it about 10% louder and so did my passenger. The only bad thing to me is my passenger side tail pipe is much dirtier.

I just finished this mod while I had the car running and you can really tell a difference immediately. I even heard a little click must have been the bypass disengaging. No errors what so even what a neat trick! thanks!

Thumbs up Unplugging the actuator from the trunk

This was an extremely easy mod and i honestly noticed a difference right away along with a couple other people. I received no error codes and dont care if it does throw some in the computer and not the dash; the dealer can suck it. They definitely will not notice it anyway and i dont think this will cause any problems in the future. The exhausts are a little louder and it sounds sweet!! Maybe it's just me but i noticed my DTC flashing more when i punch it off the line now like at a red light; it does feel slightly quicker off the line. The only disadvantage i think there is for gas mileage. I think i get about one or two less miles per gallon, but for the way it sounds i really dont care!!

o2 sensors go bad once in while its not an uncommon thing. Im almost positive that the o2 sensor going bad is not from unplugging the actuator. Also if i have any problems ill let you know, but everything will be fine

one of the forum members said to me:
Just crouch down behind the car by the left exhaust pipe and look underneath. Attached to the pipe behind the tip is an actuator with a rubber pipe attached to it. Just pull the rubber pipe off and stick something in the rubber pipe to block it.

do u know that doing this u dont get error codes and no probs on BMW service http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/7075/pic1f.jpg then u will avoid all error codes and everything

That sounds interesting and will probably work...but the exhaust system in the pic is not from a 335; looks like a 330. Maybe it still the same concept. To tell you the truth though if by some chance you get an error on your dash its not something to really worry about the dealer can never deny you to fix it...its all covered under warranty. You gonna try doing that?

Its only on the 335 models.
If yours is a 335 and its not there, that would be very interesting.

Its in there. Grab a miners hat and dig deep! Seriously though, it might be a little hard to find the wires. I found mine by touch and had to yank on it a little. Maybe some e93'rs can chime in here...

so i read each post and what i have concluded is....
1- 335+330 have it 328+325 do not
2- it does through codes, but bmw either dosn't realize or assumes we just unplug them by now
3-sounds like about 70% of people agree there is a deff change in tone?
4-20% of people think there are long term effects?

sounds like i will be unplugging it tomorrow haha
