Combox USB cable

Hi

I'm having great difficulty in finding the correct cable to connect the centre console USB port to the combox. The ones i've found on realoem.com all seem to be right-angle cables, which won't fit into the combox.

The only one I've found which is of the correct length is this:

Could someone please confirm whether this:

a) will work
b) will reach the combox from the centre console of my E92
c) has the correct connectors

Also if anyone has any advice on how to route this cable (i.e. placement of the cable) that would be appreciated.

thats what i used in my e90 for combox retrofit. guide it through the side bolster where the MOST loop is, then ur gonna route it under the carpet and through the center console

Thanks for the info, the one I linked seems to be the same as the one you linked, so I've ordered it. Hopefully I'll work out where to route the cable based on your instructions!

Just to update - I fitted the port this evening.. wasn’t the easiest job in the world! Had no idea the entire centre console had to come out to get the cable and port in. I struggled massively routing the cable to the centre console as the carpet is so thick. I ended up having to use a set of cable rods to route it along the passenger seat and into the centre console underneath the airbag module. Took me a good hour just to route the cable!

Thanks for your help - everything seems to be working.. albeit with irritating bugs with album art and song titles with my iPhone. Perhaps a combox update through WinKFP will fix it. I’ve applied the latest update from the BMW website but it made little difference. I don’t even think it imported the multimedia update as it’s still showing an old version.
