*UDATE* E91 Edition M Sport latest mods and pics

Well for those that are interested I have completed the final mods for the moment. Here is a list in order of appearance
  • Black grills
  • LED Corona rings
  • GP Thunder bulbs in the fogs, 'flash' main beam
  • LCI 'new' alloy centre caps
  • Rear Debadge
  • Reversing lamp red tint film
  • H&R Wheel spacers, 12mm front, 20mm rear
  • H&R Sport springs 35mm front, 25mm rear (deduct 10 - 15mm for M Sport)

The spacers and lowered springs have worked out well. I first thought the spacers would be too much but soon got used to them. Now with the springs I think they look spot on. A lower wider stance has given it a more aggressive look. The front came down more than the rear. I forgot to measure the wheel arch height prior to fitting but the front now sits at 25'' and rear at 25 1/4'' off the floor. The ride is more firm and planted especially on smooth motorway at speed, and round the twisties alot flatter with next to no body roll. Speed bumps and ramps need to be 'considered' rather than taken for granted, but I can live with that. Some won't. If you see some pics of the 'US' cars slammed to the floor I'd guess you would never get away with that in the UK. Too harsh and way too little clearance. H&R do a 45/35mm spring version which would look better than mine but be too much for everyday use, as mine is.

I'd like to stop any further mods but who knows. New D1S 5000k xenon bulbs, Evolve remap could be on the cards in the New Year.

Comments welcome, enjoy

Nice looking hearse you got!

IMHO this is a perfect drop. So just H&R springs and m sport shocks and sways? How much did the springs cost (can answer in PM)? Is the ride much harsher? You say it's bearable but that kinda implies it's a bone shaker on poor roads, yes?

What is with the new LCI center caps? they don't have the gray ring around them or...?

Oh, red lamps work very well there! nice alternative to the usual blacklines.

H&R's were an ebay find at £25. Only used for 3 months prior to my car. Rides firm, could be seen as harsh on bad roads. Depends what you are measuring against. I like a firm ride, but not a bouncy bone shaker, which this isn't. The wheel centre caps are used on Sept 08 onwards cars. Doesn't have the grey surround. Just a nicer looking cap.

Thanks for the comments. Except the 'hearse' one

That's a very nice wagon.

Cool taillight, althought I prefer the blacklines.

that was tongue in cheek. I love black tourings. and bimmer shape is not hearse like at all anyway, now if this was a Volvo or Accord, you could take the comment seriously!

I like the new stance.. I wish I could get away with that setup.

Any rubbing due to the spacers in the front or back? (especially under load ie: with passengers in the rear?)

Springs have only been on for a few days, so no chance of loading the car up yet. The H&R springs seem to have only dropped the rear by about 1/4 inch (10mm) from stock M Sport spec (15mm lower than SE Spec). The springs are stiffer so will unlikely drop the rear too far even loaded. That said I have a holiday coming up so the car will be loaded up and with 3 bikes on the roof. There are currently no problems either at the front.

Great job, & nice stance. Love the clean and classy look! Tails are unique, but I do prefer the blacklines on E91s.

Thanks for the positive comments.

As for the rear lights. I would have gone for Blacklines but at £165 here in the UK v's £7 for the tint film I thought a 'LCI' like mod was a bargain. Also if I didn't like it I can peel it off.

Down side is my reversing light is now 'pink'. Considering cutting out a slit to allow white light out.

Here's an LCI rear photo borrowed from Davoski
