Finally installed the intake. When I first started it, I could hear the DISA's going and thought something was wrong cause it was pretty noisy and constant. After turning the car off to put on the covers and starting back up, no noise. Sounds like normal now. Drives about like before, but I did notice on the freeway on ramp, that @3500-4k RPM, it doesn't pull as hard or the flat spot everyone has mentioned. Already ordered the OFT and hopefully it's here on monday although there is no OTS for a 325i yet. Hear Vishnu can smooth out the throttle though.
I wasn't sure which DISA cable to connect to which DISA as I was pretty sure the cables were moved around before so just saying the one closest to the front goes to X doesn't help. I did notice one was longer than the other and I ended up connecting that one to the DISA modula under the intake manifold and the shorter cable to the module above the throttle body. Hopefully this is correct. |

Mostly I went with the pics on this thread showing the DISA cable circled for which goes where and that would be great if I was 100% sure they were still mounted in the same locations. Still though, I think it's very hit or miss, especially when one cable is different than the other. One cable is longer than the other. One cable is positioned differently on the wire block/holder under the throttle body than the other. Why not use those discriptors to say which goes where? I decided the longer one was suppose to go on the DISA under the intake because the shorter cable would just barely reach and it would also crossover the longer cable on the wire-block. And then I'd be connecting the longer cable to the DISA above the throttle bottle which would then have a lot of slack. Makes no sense that way. I read the 1addicts DIY, but must have glossed over without catching this part Quote:

Hey Guys,
Extremly noob question but based on pictures i think i have already a 3-stage intage. I based this on the following pictures. This is what a stock engine bay looks like *taken from: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=801310 This is what a 3-Stage intake engine bay looks like *taken from: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=801310 MY engine bay looks identical to the last picture except for the after market air box but the intake manifold is identical with the BMW letters and all. See!! how do i tell if i have one of not? i bought the car used so maybe the last owner did it? BTW i drive a 2011 LCI E90 328i |

What you have there is a pic of a dirty engine bay with the BMW snap on cover missing from the intake manifold compared to a cleaner engine bay with the cover on, as well as an afe airbox. That's all I see there. That BMW lettering is just a cover, all the N5x motors have it. If you want, you can pull it off and your engine bay will look just like the first pic.
A "3-stage engine bay" looks exactly like a non-"3-stage engine bay", except for the 2 DISA valves that most people wouldn't notice one way or the other if they weren't looking for it specifically. What you need to look for are DISA valves on your intake manifold. One is above the throttle body and easy to see, the other is under the intake manifold runners and easy to see as well. If you have both DISA valves , then you have a 3-stage intake. |

Those two engine bay looks exactly the same lol. The BMW cover on the first pic has been remove (it just snaps right on top of the manifold. It will be hard to tell but you go new a flashlight to see if there is an actuator on both side of the intake manifold. One facing the engine and the other facing away from the engine. |

you need to look in the circled area for a surface mounted "box" with a cable going to it. if it's NOT a 3-stage, there should be 2 unused plugs clipped to the manifold in that location instead.

Would the manifold from a 2003 530i or 2005 x5 work?
After doing a bit of research it seems they're identical to that of a 2006 330i. Or am I missing something?

They would work. The only thing to look out for is if the oil separator is attached or not. If it is, you have a do a bit of cutting and plugging up of holes but nothing difficult

Is there a list of equivalent years/models that use the same intake manifold as the '06 330i around somewhere? I can't seem to find one, and running the part number through realoem.com doesn't quite narrow it down completely.

Ok, so I tracked down a manifold and DISA valves from an N51 328i, and I'm pretty excited!
I'm going to be installing it in my 2009 E92 328i, which means that I do not need to purchase the vent hose (11617559530) as well, correct? Here are some photos, for reference:

correct, your existing hose will work. BUT, you still might want to get one just in case you crack yours trying to remove it, which happens to a lot of people.

So, as I had mentioned, the manifold I purchased is from an N51 328xi. That being said, which set of hardware would I purchase? I've been different sets in different DIY threads.
11617535849 x5 Screw 50x20 11617535850 x2 Screw 50x35 11617535851 x1 Screw 50x66 or 07119903918 4x manifold hex bolts w/ washer 07129905541 3x manifold hex nuts w/ plate I know I'm asking a ton of noob questions, and I've been searching as well but haven't been able to come to solid conclusions. I want to be 100% sure!

If the manifold comes with the actuator motors attached you won't need any of that. But you will need a gasket set.
