Grades of BMW Leather and how to tell them?

Bought used Sports seat with power and heat but it's torn up on driver side and the "leather" is just rubberized canvas. I bought replacement back from eBay and the piece is REAL leather. Also ordered a bottom but not sure. How do I tell which is which?
