What is your insurance deductible? After I had to pay once to replace my windshield, I lowered my comprehensive deductible to $25. Now if anything like that happens, or a door ding, or paint scrape, my deductible is only $25.

That said, I used safelite auto glass to replace my windshield before. A google search should bring it up. They come to you and do it all for you. They did a good job on my audi, I do not remember having any complaints. The BMW windshields are expensive however because of the rain sensor.

But the rain sensor is in the rear view mirror isn't it?

I believe it is in the windshield. That would make sense because it depends on how much rain hits the windshield which would trigger the sensor. When I called about replacing the windshield on my 06 330i sedan (e90), they quoted me for the rain sensing windshield.

I could be wrong though, I am not an expert by any means.
